Factual error: When they are in quarantine after returning to Earth, they are in a room with several magazines. One of the magazines is an issue of National Geographic with the cover image of them standing on the moon. That is the December 1969 issue of National Geographic, whereas they were actually in quarantine in late July/early August 1969.
Plot hole: Spoiler alert! The entire plot hinges on the villain's gang obtaining the tablet that allows admin access to the building's systems. However, it can only be unlocked via facial recognition and it is keyed only to Will Sawyer's face. In fact, when they finally do get it, Xia unlocks it by holding it up to Sawyer's face. So what was the point of trying to steal the backpack containing the tablet? Without Will to unlock it, the tablet is useless.wizard_of_gore
Factual error: Grain engulfment is not depicted in a scientific manner. It is not possible for engulfment to happen without a valve being opened at the base - which has not been shown in the movie when the boy falls in the grain storage. It is very unlikely that two engulfments will happen so close by in the same storage - if so, they will converge quickly. But, the movie shows both victims help each other one by one. They succeed in 5-10 seconds. Engulfment become entrapment in less than 20 seconds and require more than thrice the body weight to pull some one out (unlike one kid being able to pull other one out while both are on the grain). Finally, they both sit on the door and avoid entrapment.
Factual error: Spoiler: In the scene toward the end of the movie when the dad is burned alive, his skin is completely black but his clothes are still on and intact, just blackened. With fire hot enough to completely blacken the skin, it would have burnt the clothes completely off (or at most they would have been shredded rags). (01:51:25)odelphi
Plot hole: Kingsley holds the only key card that can access the control room where the Captain is. He only has one card. He gives this key card to Rhodes so he can go up there and talk the Captain into not taking the sub to the surface yet, while Kingsley and his men head down to stop Scott and Taylor. When they employ the help of Marco and take out Kingsley and his men, Marco bends down and pulls the key card off Kingsley's neck so that now they have it... only Kingsley didn't have the key any more, as Rhodes had it and was still in the control room. A second key card magically materialized on Kingsley's neck.Quantom X
Factual error: Towards the end of the movie when Ally is in her hallway looking at Jack's old concert tour posters hanging on the wall, the poster closest to the camera says "Washington State Fair" and a 2011 date. Unfortunately, that fair did not get that name until 2013. Before that, it was called "The Puyallup Fair" (officially named the "Western Washington Fair"). Locals still call it "The Puyallup Fair" to this day.
Continuity mistake: When Steve is leaving his home to get into the squad car with Mike, he starts putting on his jacket. As he's walking alongside the car, he pulls it up over his left shoulder after his right arm was already in. It then cuts to a close up and he's pulling it over his left shoulder again. Continuity mistake: In the sequence where they are on the bridge, the villain's car moves. First it's turned and then it's straight and then it rotates again.
New this month Continuity mistake: As Keda is tumbling down the face of the cliff, he smacks against a small ledge on his way down before hitting a second ledge and then landing on a third. But as the camera goes down the face of the cliff from the top of it, the two ledges he hit on the way down are gone, showing a mostly flat face. (00:28:20)Quantom X
Factual error: On two occasions a ring neck dove lands on the sailboat. The sailboat is making way to Hawaii. Ring neck doves are indigenous to Africa, not Hawaii. They are also not an introduced or invasive species in Hawaii.
