Continuity mistake: When young Tiffany is eating ice cream at a restaurant, the amount of ice cream left in the clear glass bowl increases after she eats more. The ice cream in the bowl starts out being about half-full, goes down to less than one-fourth, and returns to about half-full again. (01:02:47 - 01:03:19)
Continuity mistake: The orchids in the vase in the center of the table are spread differently in views of Erasmus or Paul. (01:11:12)
Revealing mistake: Most of the car scenes entailed rain on the windows even though it otherwise had not been and was not raining, indicating the scenes were filmed on a rainy day. For example: Mary driving home; picking up Todd to go to the funeral; driving home from the church; driving back from rock climbing; and, Faith's car when she got to Luke's house. (00:17:35 - 01:34:12)
Plot hole: When Rupert brought his "secret pen pal" letters from Hollywood movie star John to school, they were stolen by some classmate bullies (and apparently never recovered). Rupert would have been around age 11 (possibly 12) at the time. It is inconceivable that a child could recall enough details from the letters to write a book about them 10 years later.
Character mistake: According to David, the triplets were "adopted by a blue-collar family, a middle-class family, and a more affluent family." There are different ways to measure social class, but there are similarities. Bobby's more affluent family (father M.D.; mother attorney) would be "upper-middle." "Eddy's father was a teacher. Middle-class" would be "lower-middle." "My family had a little store...more blue-collar" would be lower - or upper-middle depending on income. All three families were middle class. (00:20:30)
Suggested correction: Nothing in your entry indicates a mistake. "More affluent" doesn't mean upper-middle class. And a teacher wouldn't necessarily be lower-middle class. Not to mention the fact that according to your own words, you said all three families were middle class and then ended the mistake with all three families were middle class. (Upper-middle and lower-middle are still middle class).
Revealing mistake: When Ling takes out her phone in the hotel bedroom, the time on the phone is 11:03. Given that daylight can be seen, the time must be 11:03am, but by this point in the story, it should be afternoon at the very least. Clearly, the scene must have been filmed in the morning. (02:15:40)
Factual error: When the saturation divers open the outer hatch on Kursk, they drop a glow stick. When they do, it falls to the floor on the submarine, indicating the inner hatch was open. The inner hatch of Kursk was closed, later opened by an ROV.
Factual error: The police officer that shows up does two stupid things in a row that real police would never do. When investigating a kidnapping, he calls in what the car was they were looking for. Which he sees. Instead of calling for back up, or even mentioning to dispatch that he found a car that looks like it, after coming from a murder scene at a gas station and following a map left behind to this spot, he approaches the car alone, without calling for back up, or drawing his weapon. Shortly thereafter, he finds the kidnapped boy inside the car, who tells him the man who took him is in the house. The officer then proceeds to go into the house alone to look for a dangerous kidnapper without waiting for backup, even mentioning to the kid that his partner is on the way. (00:32:00 - 00:33:35)
Factual error: Michael boards a commuter train at Grand Central, which then stops at subway stations at 68th Street, 86th Street, and 110th Street along Lexington Avenue. This is impossible.
Continuity mistake: Susan meets backstage Dr. Mitch. He states the obvious saying that she looks alike her twin sister, just more confident, and she cuts him off saying that she knows. She was leaning back with her hands as support, and at the cut she replies to him with her hands joined at the front. (00:09:45)
Continuity mistake: The clothes Tyler and Kassi were wearing at Kassi's house were not the same when Kassi came to dinner that day at the Burnside's house. It seems unlikely that BOTH would change clothes before dinner. (00:31:49 - 00:32:40)
Suggested correction: Apparently they did. It was probably Tyler's idea, presenting Kassi in the best possible light to assuage suspicion and maintain his image as a good Christian Boy Scout.
Other mistake: The Israeli commandos are painting an orange Mercedes black using brushes. In later scenes the car has perfect factory finished black paintwork.
Revealing mistake: After Frank shoots Kevin and Kevin's SUV hits the curb, the background/scenery changes as well as the position of Frank's car. Frank initially pulls along the curb (behind the SUV) with his car at about a 30° angle. The next time Frank's car is shown, it is almost perpendicular to the curb and the Food Mart. When Rupple and Frank have their guns aimed, they would be aiming inside the Mart, not toward Kevin. Objects in the background also change (e.g, fire hydrant, telephone pole appear). (00:16:48)
Revealing mistake: The tapered half of the baseball bat was leaning against the coffee table at about a 60° angle, but after Dave said, "The bat?" the camera showed it sticking straight up from (perpendicular to) the floor. Dave's lower body is then shown walking past the bat (which reaches to his waist) and stopping, at which point the bat fades into his leg until it is almost invisible. The next view of the bat shows it leaning against the coffee table again, but the coffee table is closer to the couch. (00:09:08)
Revealing mistake: Davey at the beginning of the movie is looking at the newspaper he's delivering to Mr. Wayne Mackey. Just from a glance at the page you can tell that something is off, since the article supposedly about a missing boy appears to be written entirely in first person. Upon closer inspection, turns out that it's filler text from chapter IV of Robert Louis Stevenson' s "Treasure Island". (00:01:30)
Continuity mistake: The position of Don's baseball cap on the table changes two times. Initially, the cap is near the corner of the table with the visor and letter "P" roughly parallel to the front of his body. After he pours beer into his glass, the visor is angled more toward the corner of the table (even though the camera appears to pan around it). When Don brings Mike back to the table, the cap visor is pointed toward Don and is at a differently angle (more parallel to the front of his body again). (00:00:09 - 00:01:47)
Character mistake: Immediately after the crash, when Reeves is carrying his youngest child Sophie, the actress opens up her mouth, even though she has already drowned. (00:14:43)
Factual error: Second scene, caption says "1977 southern California" but she's driving a white 90's Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Fwd station wagon.
Visible crew/equipment: When Zoe walks into Anderson's office and tells him she's meeting Maya at the apartment, just as Zoe says, "Uh oh," there's a visible blue T-mark taped to the floor. (00:49:05)
Continuity mistake: When Lukas is looking in the bathroom mirror, the upper half of his laceration looks about three times the width of the lower half. When he exits the bathroom, the laceration looks like one line with the same width. (00:15:45)
