Factual error: The attack on the OPEC meeting in Vienna takes place on December 21. Yet, when Carlos' team exits the tram, the trees are full with green summer leaves and the sun shines as it would on a high summer day.
Factual error: There's a scene where a woman's son and Kahn are playing on an Xbox. The movie was set around the time when 9/11 happened and the console was not even released at that time. You can tell from the controller they were using. It was white and had a battery underneath for wireless gaming.
Continuity mistake: In the final battle scene after the Band reaches the canyons and are on a cliff overlooking the Guardians, you can obviously see that Twilight doesn't have his lute. After focusing on Soren struggling to remove the pot of tar, we see Twilight flying with Digger and Gylfie, but with his lute. Impossible to be so fast. (01:11:55)
Plot hole: When Dylan enters the vampire Vargas's bedroom to interrogate him, Dylan frequently steps away from the door to let sunlight in to burn Vargas, so that Vargas will cooperate with the interrogation. Vargas is in his bed and could easily cover himself with his sheets to block the sunlight, but never does.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Cindy is about to have her abortion, we see a shot of the nurse holding her hand and the nurse has on purple latex gloves. In the next shot, the nurse is holding her hand without gloves.
Continuity mistake: When they jump on the train at the end of the film, the train tail light is on the right hand side and its also a light that didn't come in until the 80's and in the long shot of the train speeding along the tail light is on the left hand side.
Continuity mistake: First when Carson kisses Rachel she's on his left side. When the kiss is over she's suddenly on his right side. (00:52:00)
Continuity mistake: When the security guard opens the back of his vehicle the gun is pointing to the left, but when the shot changes as the security guard reaches in for the hat, the gun is pointing to the right. Then as he turns to put the hat on Tyler, the gun is again pointing to the left.
Continuity mistake: When Ellie & Fiona are breaking into the garage to steal the gas tanker truck, Fiona's hands are by her side. The camera angle changes, and her right hand is up, holding her rifle strap.
Factual error: In the chase scene where Lou is running after the derelict, they pass a number of vehicles parked and driving on the streets. All of them are correct period vehicles for the late 1950s, except for a white semi truck which is from at least the mid 1990s. The grille and headlights on the truck are the giveaway. (01:23:20)
Continuity mistake: Towards the end of the movie, after Boyka gets out of the car with the briefcase, Turbo gets out after him and has a conversation. When Turbo goes back to the car, you see Boyka standing on the side of the road. There is only that one road in all the shots. In the next close up shot of the car door closing, and the car moving, we see the car getting out on to the road from a small by-lane (of sorts)! Where did this road come from? How did the car move places?
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, when Ray makes a call to channel one news, he is seen to press the dial button, but when he looks to see a fleet of super hybrids, his phone is displaying a picture rather than placing a call.
Continuity mistake: When Charlotte Gainsborough has a meltdown telling the younger kid to remove the toy guitar, the kid is holding the toy differently between shots. (00:17:20)
Factual error: After warping back from Iscandar, Kodai looks out of the window. Yuki Mori points him where Earth is. A moment later, he responds to the hailing signal saying that they are now 420,000 kilometres from Earth. Considering that the distance between Earth and the Moon is about 385,000km, Earth is looking unreasonably minuscule from their window. (01:52:50)
Continuity mistake: After RVD is shot by the lone motorcyclist he goes home to take care of his wound. You can see that he was shot in his LEFT shoulder. When he goes to the bathroom and takes off his shirt, the wound is on his RIGHT shoulder. After bandaging up his wound, he finds his wife bound and gagged and his daughter has been taken. He goes out to the garage and you can see his LEFT shoulder is now bandaged. (00:58:50 - 01:01:55)
Factual error: Sergeant-Major Saunders is wearing sergeant's stripes. Corporals Drake and Levin are wearing no rank insignia at all.
Character mistake: Two police officers went to the Davenport's house because someone "requested a drive-by in the middle of the night." The veteran cop rang the doorbell, knocked on the door, heard noise (dismissed as "probably a pet"), and even yelled, "Rise and shine, people." He told the rookie cop that he was "trying to go the extra mile to make sure these folks are okay" and "Somebody called in a drive-by and I want to see their smiling faces." The officers nonetheless left when they got another call. (00:19:19 - 00:20:41)
Factual error: While measuring the Electromagnetic Field (EMF) being given off by Stonehenge in the film, a scientist exclaims that the frequency is increasing to over 100 Gigahertz, and is approaching radioactivity. This is absurd. EMF is radiation of electromagnetic waves over a wide spectrum of frequencies. Its strength depends on the frequency at which it is measured, with no relation to radioactivity whatsoever. It has a magnetic and an electrical component, but no nuclear breakdown as such.
Deliberate mistake: The (fake) confession letter was postmarked from Ohio and sent to Allison Connor, 331 Henry Lane in Hilliard, MB 21243. No U.S. state has a postal abbreviation of "MB." The way the "B" was written in thick bold letters made it resemble a "D" - "MD" represents Maryland (where the film apparently takes place). Also, there is no current 21243 zip code in the U.S. There is a 21241 for Baltimore City and the next consecutive zip code is 21244 in Baltimore County. The created address LOOKS real. (00:50:44)
Other mistake: The protagonist is still a kid, and she is telling in voiceover about all the things she vows to renounce hoping to have her dad back in health. On the porch she knocks repeatedly on the wood, but the magical numbers don't appear. (00:05:00)
