Continuity mistake: In the scene just before Miss Piggy and Eileen get fired from the department store, Miss Piggy is watching Kermit and Jenny hug. She then bends a metal pole in half and starts hitting a barrel with it. When she first starts hitting it, the pole she is hitting it with is very thick(much thicker than the one she bent in half), is a different colour and not bent in any way. In the next shot the pole is thinner,longer and looks like the one she originally had, but it is only bent at the top whereas Miss Piggy bent it in the middle. In the next shot of her after that, the pole is now thicker (but not as thick as the first one), is not bent and the colour has changed again. Also if you look around the area where Miss Piggy is, there is only one type of pole lying around, so where did the other two come from? (00:30:15)
Character mistake: In the scene where Sam is filling out the confidential questionnaire, the word "confidential" is spelled "confidentail".
Continuity mistake: Apollonia jumps into the lake. She is soaking wet, naturally. However, soon after, she's riding on the back of Prince's motorcycle and her hair is completely dry. (00:23:34)
Revealing mistake: When Michael Douglas attempts to swing on a vine over a deep abyss, the rock that he runs into on the other side moves like a marshmallow, indicating that it's a fake rock. (00:39:10)
Visible crew/equipment: In the sequence where the young are in the field to clear up the rules of "chicken game" (or something), you can see a part of a microphone above them.
Revealing mistake: When the TVs explode, the glass is very fake and "cardboardy".
Continuity mistake: Alex comes to work very hungover. He proceeds to spill coffee on his shirt twice. He then talks with Lisa in his classroom and now the shirt is clean.
Revealing mistake: When Harkin Banks almost loses control and skis through the lodge, the jump ramp is visible as the woman opens the door. (01:29:45)
Continuity mistake: During the second "break fight" against Electro Rock in the club, there is a shot of Turbo wearing a grey windbreaker while Ozone is dancing. In the next shot he is putting the jacket on and when Kelly gets on the floor, the jacket is nowhere in sight.
Continuity mistake: When Matthew is shaving and Jennifer is distracting him, the cut on his cheek changes position throughout the scene.
Revealing mistake: When the guy on the horse pulls out his sword, he has trouble getting it out of the sheath at first and it bends severely. It is clear that it is not a real sword.
Other mistake: In the beginning of the movie, when the mechanic is working on the car on the lift, he says he has to change the oil in it, the chassis drops to the ground, there is no engine attached to the chassis or body. In addition, he is changing the oil at the rear axle.
Continuity mistake: After crashing through the guarded barrier of the base, David drives the stolen pickup truck and burning debris from the electrical storm falls onto the hood of the truck. In the next close-up the burning debris is shaped differently. Then after they crash through the wall, in the wide shot there is no burning debris on the hood. Yet, in the next close-up there's plenty of burning debris, but then in the next shot there is no burning debris again, just a smoking engine. The building debris surrounding the truck and behind it, in the first shot differs from all the building debris in the second shot as well. (01:21:50)
Continuity mistake: Right before the fight scene in the bowling alley, Gatsby Boy bowls a strike. However, when Hopper charges down the alley after him, the 7 pin is shown still standing.
Audio problem: When Winston says "Bugger." at the start of the film when he has the cigarette in his mouth, his lips are most definitely not in sync with the word. And it even sounds dubbed over.
Continuity mistake: Chocolate Mousse and Deja Vu are playing darts on the plane at the end of the movie. In the next shot where Hillary is hugging her father, the darts change positions. (01:23:35)
Revealing mistake: When Roger is in the bathroom at the urinal, he can see Edwina's reflection in the mirror (as she is, supposedly, inhabiting his body). However, when Roger lets out a particularly big exhale, Edwina's bangs blow slightly upwards, showing that the "mirror" effect is achieved by simply having her stand behind a wall right in front of him. Continuity mistake: When Jeff Bridges and Rachel Ward are on the beach in the grass hut on the video version you clearly see the overhead boom mike swinging back and forth to face the character who is speaking at the moment. This continues through the whole scene.
Factual error: When Jenny Hayden and Starman accidentally overshoot their destination and arrive in Las Vegas, Jenny discovers that her wallet is missing. She has no cash, no credit cards, and no identification whatsoever. The only money she has is a single quarter. Starman uses the quarter to hit the jackpot on a 25-cent slot machine, then uses the prize money to play the Horseshoe $500,000 slot machine, which he also wins. They then use the giant jackpot money to purchase a brand new Cadillac and drive it off the lot. Huge problem: In 1984 (and today), you could never collect a giant Las Vegas jackpot without several pieces of personal identification, for tax purposes. Likewise, you could never purchase and drive a brand new Cadillac off the lot without multiple pieces of identification and a financial disclosure statement (if paying cash).
Continuity mistake: At the beginning, Buckaroo tests his oscillation overthruster. Sitting in his test vehicle he's wearing a wrap-around mirrored visor that reflects a full panorama of the desert area in front of him. There is a thick black divider running down the center of the windshield that is missing from the reflection. Also, since it is a panorama seen on the visor, the edges of the front windshield should be reflected on the sides.
