Continuity mistake: When Stan is about to take his shot during the snooker game, the white ball is near the top right pocket, but a few shots later it is now beside the ball near the top left pocket.
Continuity mistake: In a bedroom at the mansion of the late Ebenezer Laurel, Jervis the butler points to the spot where Ebenezer was murdered. In a close-up of Laurel and Hardy, the shadow of the butler's outstretched arm and index finger can be seen. However, in the following shot of the butler, his arm is still at his side. Then he raises his arm to point.
Continuity mistake: Ollie falls off the roof and lands in the fishpond. When he gets back on the roof, his clothes are dry and his necktie is blowing in the breeze. This happens three times.
Continuity mistake: When Stan climbs out of the window to send himself a telegram, the window blinds are fully up inside the house, but when we cut to him going outside, the blinds are now a third of the way down.
Continuity mistake: When Stan empties the unbroken pigeon's egg from the mug, he places the mug on the organ with his right hand and the handle is pointing left, but in the next shot the handle is now pointing right.
Continuity mistake: Edgar Kennedy plays a cop who persuades Laurel & Hardy to break into the police chief's home so he can arrest them and "get in good with the Chief." Jimmy Finlayson plays the Chief's servant. When he hears noises, he stumbles at the top of the stairs and falls down the staircase. When he lands (it is obviously a stunt double), he is sprawled parallel to the stairs with his legs pointing to the right. In the close-up, he has reversed position and his legs are pointing to the left.
