After Sam dives between the Troll's legs and tries to crawl away, in the first shot the Troll lifts his leg and in the second shot he's about to step on Sam, who is in the middle of the floor. Yet in the very next shot Sam is already at the wall raising his left arm and wincing at the giant foot coming down on him. See more...

When Merry and Pippin have just taken the dragon firework from Gandalf's cart and are in the tent tossing it back and forth, Pippin shrieks when it goes off. Apparently, Peter Jackson had told Billy Boyd it would only spark and fizzle, so he was fairly surprised when it shot off in his hands. He talks about this in the commentary on the DVD. See more...

Continuity: When Frodo tells Sam about the Wood Elves, they both run up the hill and crouch behind a fallen log. In the shot of their backs and the elves in the background, Frodo is on the right side and Sam on the left. In the previous shot of their faces, Frodo was also on the right and Sam on the left.
