After Lurtz releases his first arrow at Boromir, one of the Hobbit stand-ins is seen to Boromir's left, throwing stones. The next shot is of Merry and Pippin standing close together, looking at Boromir to their left - they have moved position to the other side of him. See more...
Trivia
When the four Hobbits fall down the hill, Merry says "That was just a detour, a shortcut." Sam asks "A shortcut to what?" and Pippin says "Mushrooms!" This is a reference to a chapter in The Fellowship of the Ring called "A Shortcut to Mushrooms." A number of chapters are referred to within the dialogue in various places. Others include: "A Long-expected Party," "At the Sign of the Prancing Pony," "A Journey in the Dark" and "The Breaking of the Fellowship." All of those chapter names except "A Shortcut to Mushrooms" and "A Long-expected Party" were also used by composer Howard Shore to name a piece on the LOTR soundtrack. See more...
At the Council of Elrond, when Gimli says, "I will be dead before I see the ring in the hands of an Elf!" in the close-up shot the two Elves on the sides of Legolas stand up. In the next wide shot the Elf on Legolas' right is just getting up.
