Quotes
Frodo: I am just a hobbit, Gandalf, you are a great wizard. You take the Ring!
Gandalf: [Backing away] No! No! I must not take the Ring. It will work through me, and I will do great evil, thinking I am doing great good.
Mistakes
At Balin's Tomb, in the first shot Boromir's right wrist is caught up on the Troll's chain and he's holding his shield with his left hand. In the second shot, the Troll flings Boromir across towards the wall, and as Boromir is flying across, he is not holding his shield. In this next shot, as soon as Boromir hits the wall, he has the shield in his left hand again. See more...
Trivia
In order to make people believe that Ian McKellen is taller than the four Hobbits, Peter Jackson and the production crew used a technique called forced perspective. This was achieved by placing McKellen consistently closer to the camera, and the eye is tricked into believing that McKellen towers over the Hobbits. A good example of this is when Frodo is riding with Gandalf in Gandalf's cart. Elijah Wood was sitting about 2 feet behind Ian McKellen. See more...
When Frodo and Sam are in the field with the scarecrow, in the close up shot they're a lot closer together than in the wider shot. Nothing to do with perspective - check out the amount of green corn in front of Frodo in the two shots. The scarecrow also changes place and it's sometimes next to some corn and sometimes not.
