Quotes
Gandalf: Confound it all, Samwise Gamgee, have you been eavesdropping?
Sam Gamgee: I ain't been dropping no eaves, sir, honest! I was just cutting the grass under the window there, if you follow me.
Gandalf: A little late for trimming the verge, don't you think?
Sam Gamgee: I heard raised voices.
Gandalf: What did you hear? Speak!
Sam Gamgee: Oh, nothing important. That is, I heard a good deal about a Ring, and a Dark Lord, and something about the end of the world, but please Mr. Gandalf, sir, don't hurt me. Don't turn me into anything... un-natural.
Mistakes
At the end of the Amon Hen battle scene, where Boromir has been shot by Lurtz, there is a close-up of Lurtz's feet (as if from Boromir's POV) showing Lurtz striding over and stopping in front of him. The ground is clear all around his feet. The shot then changes to a wide shot, from the side, and there are orc corpses piled up all around. None of these were visible before, but should have been. Trivia
On the 2 disc DVD, theatrical version of the movie, when the fellowship is leaving Lórien in the boats, the entire time Frodo is sitting at the front of the boat with Sam behind him, and Aragorn behind Sam. But when they pass the Argonath, Aragorn taps Frodo on the shoulder. He is sitting right in front of him and Sam is in the front of the boat. However, this is corrected in the extended version because there is a scene right before they see the Argonath where they get out of the boats. They spend the night on shore, so it is actually a different day from when they left Lórien to when they see the Argonath. So it is assumed that Sam and Frodo just switched places the next day. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Continuity: When Arwen is carrying Frodo to the Ford, during the close-up of his face, it is covered in a green slime/pus-type substance (coming out of his eyes and mouth). At the Ford when Arwen confronts the Black Riders, his face is clean. [Peter Jackson has stated that the pus was used in one scene and afterwards they decided it was too gross and didn't use it again. That's why it appears and disappears. Still a mistake though.]
