Later, when the waiter brings him the food, the camera's shadow is also projected onto him. Continuity mistake: The yellow towel Mr. Bean puts in his basket in the department store is so large it nearly takes up all the space in his basket, yet when he rides up the escalator, the the towel is now half the size of the basket, even though it's folded.
Chosen answer: I'm guessing it is because he bought a new car. At the end of the first Bean, he crashed the mini. You hear the crash and see his wheel bouncing down the road. Safe to assume it was a write-off.
