CSI: Miami

Point of Impact - S8-E8

Stupidity: After talking to the bartender, Calleigh goes back the lab and talks to Caine, and he wonders if they got a false positive from the vic's blood alcohol. Calleigh then gives a detailed description of how that could happen; Caine already knows how (obviously this was done for the audience, to explain it, but in the context of the show, it makes no sense).

Collision - S4-E17

Stupidity: When the woman crashes, they show her leaning over the wheel and a head injury from hitting the windshield. They never question why the airbag didn't deploy.

Show generally

Stupidity: Throughout the entire series the CSI's on several occasions will describe, in great detail, the procedure they are doing to another CSI. This makes no sense since they have all been CSI 's for years and should already know how it's done. Obviously this was done for the audience so they could follow along.

Suggested correction: While this is obviously the case, and it's a common script technique, I have worked with several people who will explain in great detail what they're doing (or worse yet explain what I should do) despite the fact I've worked there longer and know more than they do. But to avoid contention at the work place I just let them talk and pretend to listen.

Rampage - S4-E24

Other mistake: During the scene (towards the end of the episode) when Horatio's young wife Marisol dies, there are two worthy mentions. First is when we see Horatio walk into Marisol's room, there is a doctor present but the two do not speak. Horatio speaks to Marisol at the side of her bed and they joke about their supposed date later that night, and her speech seems fine. A few seconds later while holding her hand, we hear the "flat line" and Marisol passes away. About two seconds after we hear the flat line, the camera angle shows Marisol still turned toward Horatio, her chest still moving to breathe. A split second after that though, the camera angle now shows Marisol face up in the bed, presumably dead. Second issue and perhaps most importantly - Marisol was young, and a gunshot victim who had been in stable condition just the day before. Even if her condition had turned more critical, it seems almost impossible that as soon as she flat lined, there still would not have been immediate resuscitation attempts or calls for a resuscitation team, especially with a doctor who was already in the room.

Tinder Box - S1-E22

Trivia: Because the episode 'Tinder Box' closely resembled (and was likely based on) the fire at a nightclub in Rhode Island that killed 100 people, the local CBS affiliate decided not to air the episode so soon after the event.

Answer: Earlier in the episode, Horatio tells Mac that Penrod was seen in Tribeca getting his leg set, only to bolt when he learned a nurse wised up the cops. Caine and the NYPD probably got Penrod's address from the hospital.
