Day 6: 4:00 AM - 5:00 AM - S6-E23

Question: When VP Daniels and Tom are in the oval office talking about K Hayes and B Buchanan, as Tom leaves the room it cuts to a close up of VP Daniels. Just behind him is a photograph in a frame where the photo somehow moves? Was this intentional, as it caught my eye and I cannot explain it.

Day 5: 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM - S5-E24

Question: How did Jack get kidnapped by the Chinese, beaten to a pulp and end up on a ship in the middle of the ocean in about 10 minutes?

Question: Was Nina recruited as a spy before she joined CTU or after? Also, as she wasn't working just for the Drazens, what was her primary mission?

Chosen answer: According to Jack in season 5, Nina was "deep cover" before the pair ever met, so it's safe to assume she was recruited before she joined CTU. As for what her primary mission was, who knows? Perhaps it was to gather sensitive intel and pass it on to her superiors. Given that she worked for an intelligence agency, it's not a stretch. Or perhaps we may find out in season seven.

Question: Did the actress who plays Nina know the entire time that she was supposed to be bad, or was this written into the show mid-season?

Dandude776 1

Chosen answer: Nobody knew, not even the writers, until at least halfway through the season when they were writing the end. They wanted to keep all options open.

Day 4: 1:00 A.M.-2:00 A.M. - S4-E19

Question: After the President is injured in the plane crash, VP Logan is made President. While hiding in the bunker he says "they could be coming for me next." If they did attack Logan and he was severely injured also, who would take over as President? No VP was appointed after Logan was "promoted" so who is next in line?

The_Iceman

Chosen answer: With no vice president, the Senate pro tempore would be next in the line of succession.

Question: Kevin Carroll was impersonating Alan York, Janet York's father. When Janet is in the hospital and her "father" visits her, shouldn't Janet have been able to tell that that wasn't her real father?

Chosen answer: That's why he killed her. When he entered her hospital room she was drowsy and didn't realise straight away that he was not her real father - he suffocated her before she could tell anyone.

Question: It is mentioned that 14 months prior to Day 6, Abu Fayed was detained by CTU Seattle, and his release was signed by Bill Buchanan. Considering the 20-month jump between seasons five and six and no mention of Buchanan ever being reassigned, the math doesn't add up; it seems to me that Buchanan would still have been at CTU Los Angeles. Can someone help me out?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: It is stated in season 4 somewhere around the 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm time frame that Buchanan worked at CTU Seattle before being transfered to Los Angeles. Michelle Dessler worked with him there while Tony was in prison between seasons 3 and 4.

Day 2: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. - S2-E24

Question: Who are the people Kingsley are reporting to on the phone? I understand he works for them but was there ever any indication as to who they were or what their roll in all this was?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: As revealed in 24: The Game, Max was a weapons dealer with ties to terrorist organizations. It is further revealed in the game that his weapons dealings with terrorists were interfered with by American authorites. which caused the deals to go sour. His terrorist clients retaliated by murdering his family before his eyes. Presumably, he was primarily motivated by revenge against the American Government, with a secondary goal of driving up oil prices to make himself rich. To this end, he masterminded the plot to start a war between the US and three Middle Eastern countries.

Day 4: 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. - S4-E12

Question: In this episode, Jack is at the offoces of McClennon/Forrester and realizes they are going to set off an EMP to destroy all the computer hardware. Jack tries to stop it and realizes he cannot. Just as the EMP goes off, Jack crouches behind a door for protection and screams as the EMP goes off. However later, Audrey is told the EMP would not harm Jack or Paul. It would only affect all electronic devices. So why would Jack need to find protection behind a door and why would he need to scream when the device went off?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: The device is an EMP that is in development and, as such, may not be stable. While its true that an EMP in itself is harmless to people, there may be electrical discharges or shorts from the device itself that could harm a person, hence Jack takes cover. As for his scream, its not a scream of pain, but a scream of frustration at not being able to stop the EMP going off.

Question: Whenever the agents are interrogating somebody at SCT, they sometimes torture them. By doing so they sometimes stick a needle into somebody and injects something into their bloodstream. This causes severe pain in the person as you can see them either scream or see the pain etched on their face as they try to hold it in. What is it they are injecting into people and how does it work that it causes so much pain?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: It's a fictional drug called hyoscine-penothal. I don't know if why it causes so much pain has been explained, but it's been described as a neural inflammatory; it gives the feeling of "every nerve ending in your body on fire." It's a useful tool because if one doesn't yield soon enough, at 8 cc's, one can go into cardiac arrest and die before giving up any useful information.

Question: Has anybody been able to find the easter egg on the DVD-set?

Chosen answer: It's on the Special Features disc. With "Season 7 Preview" selected, press up on the remote. There should be a small "24" that appears. Press that, and you'll get the scene of Jack and Chloe on "The Simpsons."

Day 2: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. - S2-E24

Question: At the end of the episode is the famous scene where the woman shakes hands with Palmer and gives him some kind of poison. When the camera first pans onto her it zooms in and suspenseful music plays. This indicates to me that we are supposed to be surprised who she is. Did I miss something? Was she on the show before and her appearance as the assassin supposed to be a surprise? Or was everything just for dramatic effect?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: She was in the first season. She was the woman who destroys and then parachutes out of the airplane in the first episode of the series.

Season 3 generally

Question: At the end of season 2, President Palmer relieves Mike of his duties. However in season 3 Mike is back working with Palmer. Did I miss something?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: Season 3 takes place three years after Season 2. Palmer could've forgiven and moved on in that time.

Question: Is there any reason why Harris Yulin was not credited for his role as Roger Stanton?

Chosen answer: Guest stars must share screen credit with one or two other guest stars, but Yulin wanted his name to appear alone. The producers wouldn't allow it, so Yulin decided to remain uncredited.

Question: If Jack and Graem are brothers, why has there never been any mention of their relationship before, even in passing? And I'm talking beside the fact the producers didn't make them brothers until season 6.

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: There really wasn't any need for us to know he had a brother before - for all we know, he could have more than one brother but the need for us to know isn't there...just like there isn't any mention of his mother - who, for all we know, could be the mastermind criminal behind everything. Bear in mind over the near 10 years in the show's time that have elapsed over the 6 seasons, we've only spent 6 days in Jack's company - no reason his brother would have come up.

Question: Why was Carlos Bernard credited as a "Special Guest Star"?

Cubs Fan

Chosen answer: Without talking to the producers, it's impossible to be sure, but it's possible he was gonna be killed off early, or only appear in a few episodes. As the show developed he developed into a more stable character and became a regular cast member.

Question: What are they injecting people with at CTU to make them talk?

Chosen answer: It is probably Sodium Thiopental, know by the trademarked name, Sodium Pentothal, or Truth Serum. Thiopental is still used in some places as a truth serum. The barbiturate drugs as a class decrease higher cortical brain functioning. Since lying is more complex than the truth, suppression of the higher cortical functions may lead to the divulgement of the "truth."

Question: How many times did they use a silent clock to end an episode and why?

Chosen answer: A silent clock has been used 5 times thusfar: After Teri's death (Season 1), after George exited CTU for the last time (Season 2), after President Palmer was poisoned and fell to the floor (Season 2; Palmer's heavy breathing and heart beat are heard in the background), after Jack executed Chappelle (Season 3; a train whistle is heard in the background), and after Edgar was killed by the nerve gas (Season 5). The silent clock has traditionally been used during extremely emotional moments, and most often after a character has died.

Question: Does the main twist at the end actually make any sense? Could Nina really have been working against Jack and is there any subtle evidence of this earlier on? It seemed to me like the ending was chosen because it was the most shocking, but the least logical. Some examples of Nina trying to hinder Jack or just acting suspiciously would be appreciated.

Chosen answer: The producers actually decided on this twist half way through the season. I'm unsure about the upcoming season five, but in the past, the writing team have only written six or seven episodes at a time and then deciding where to go next whilst filming. An example of Nina acting suspiciously would be when she left Kim and Teri at the safehouse fairly soon before it was attacked. Although it seemed that she left due to Teri's realisation that it was Nina who was seeing Jack during their separation, this has been cited as a red herring - more likely is that she left them and told the bad guys where they were.

Question: I seem to remember in Season 1 when the show starts, Jack would say as he always does "The following takes place between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m." and then says "Events occur in real time." When season 2 started however, I haven't heard that last line since. Is there a reason known why this line is no longer said at the beginning of each episode?

Carl Missouri

Chosen answer: This is because by the second series people were now well aware that the whole uniqueness was that the show was shown in real time, and therefore the line was no longer required.

Season 4 generally

Question: Strangely, unlike seasons 2 & 3, there's no option to branch the deleted scenes back in to season 4 and on disc 7, the first deleted scene is under the heading "Season 4 Director's Cut Promo". Is this really as black and white as it seems or am I missing something? Has anyone heard any rumours, or facts, that Fox is planning to release Season 4 Director's Cut in the near future?

Chimera

Chosen answer: The "Director's Cut Promo" on Disc 7 is just that: a Season 4 promo, in the form of a prequel that bridges Seasons 3 and 4. The context of "Director's Cut" that we normally think of has nothing to do with it.

Day 4: 10:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. - S4-E16

Question: What happens to Behrooz at the end? I missed this episode, so I read in the official site of 24 its summary, but it didn't really say if Behrooz was killed or not. So was he killed or not?

Chosen answer: It's never confirmed exactly what happened to him. In a deleted scene, he is rescued by CTU agents. After that, we can assume that he was probably put into witness protection or something.

Season 3 generally

Question: Why is everyone so convinced that Tony will be spending at least 20 years in prison, if he's not executed? Considering all that he's been through during the day, including nearly being killed and nearly losing his wife to a horrible virus, and then seeing terrorists trying to take out her eye, wouldn't he stand a great chance at a temporary insanity plead?

Chosen answer: It's because he put Michelle's life and safety ahead of National Security (he even admits this when he's questioned by Brad Hammond from Divison). If you think about it, it's more than reminiscent of Jack's attempts to save Kim and Teri in Season 1.

Question: In the O.C., what was in the folder Eric Rayburn gave to Palmer regarding Second Wave?

Chosen answer: It's never revealed on camera, but judging from Palmer's conversation with the Middle Eastern Prime Minister soon after, it can be presumed the folder contains proof of Second Wave terrorist camps operating on the enemy country's soil with funding.

Day 2: 7:00 A.M.-8:00 A.M. - S2-E24

Question: In the last episode of season two, in the final minutes, what exactly happens to Palmer? What did that woman have on her hand that made him ill?

Chosen answer: 1) The woman had a plastic sheet on her hand (which she later removes with tweezers so she would not have to touch it and be infected). When the poisonous side came into contact with skin, it burnt through it and entered the bloodstream, thus poisoning the recipient. 2) We are not told which virus it is but my best guess is that it is the same virus that they are trying to contain in Series 3.

11:00 P.M.-12:00 Midnight - S1-E24

Day 2: 2:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. - S2-E7
