Corrected entry: When Bunny walks in on Charlotte at her apartment, they are talking in the hallway. Bunny holds up her hand, and there is a close-up of a large metal bunny key chain. This is symbolic, of course, of the character 'Bunny'. (00:14:35)
Pick-a-little, talk-a-little - S6-E4
Corrected entry: After Miranda and Paul have a successful dinner date, he abruptly ends the night and tells her he has to get home. Miranda finally gets Paul to admit the truth, and he informs her that he has diarrhea and goes running off in a hurry along the sidewalk towards home. But if Paul was in that much gastrointestinal distress that he has to end a date and rush home, why wouldn't he just go back inside the restaurant and use their bathroom? They are standing right outside the restaurant, and it would have been much faster and more convenient than having to wait until he got home. (00:19:25)
Correction: Paul was obviously embarrassed by having to answer "nature's call," no matter how urgent. It was an awkward situation, and this being their first date, he likely did not want Miranda to know about his sudden need for a bathroom. Considering his predicament, he may have wanted to avoid using the restaurant's facilities under those circumstances.
This makes no sense. If the need was that bad, it's more important to find a nearbye restroom than worry about how your 'date' feels. There is no shame, guilt, or embarrassment in having to use a bathroom on a date. Many people do, and mention it out loud. It is irrational to risk extreme discomfort having to wait an extended period of time in those circumstances, rather than just go back inside the restaurant. He could have waited until his date left to do so, if necessary. But it's not a big deal to just go back inside.
Corrected entry: When Charlotte is on the couch watching TV, there is a shot where you can see the backs of both of her hands. She is again wearing the simple gold wedding band on her right hand as she did previously, but she also has on her new wedding band that Harry gave her on her left hand. There is no sight of the large diamond engagement ring he gave her either. It seems strange that Charlotte would be wearing two wedding bands, and not her diamond ring from her current marriage. Correction: The ring may just be any ring she has. It most likely isn't her old wedding band, considering how Charlotte's personality is. A lot of people wear plain band rings, and just because she's wearing one, doesn't mean it is her old wedding band.
Correction: Charlotte frequently wears a plain gold band in previous series, even before meeting Trey.
Corrected entry: In the previous episode when Steve told Miranda about the opening of Scout, he was still involved with his girlfriend Jessica. Not only was Jessica with Steve when he offered the invitation to attend the opening, but she made a big point of saying 'We'd love to have you come' meaning she and Steve were still a couple. Yet later in that episode when Miranda shows up at the Scout opening, Jessica is nowhere to be found. Not only that, but Steve leads Miranda over to the bar to 'get drunk' meaning he wanted to spend some time with her. So what happened to his girlfriend Jessica? She was just with him a few days before that. Also in this episode, when Miranda and Steve went out on the double date with Aiden and Carrie; Steve was single at this point and tried to kiss Miranda on the way home. There was never any explanation or plot concerning what happened to Steve's previous girlfriend Jessica; and it seems illogical that they would have broken up in the short time between when he invited Miranda to the bar, and the actual opening night of Scout.
Correction: Why is it illogical that they broke up? Couples break up all the time.
Because it is not likely they would have broken up in that exact period of time, just a few days before the restaurant opening. It's implausible, and obviously a plot contrivance.
Four women and a funeral - S2-E5
Corrected entry: In this episode, Miranda tells Carrie her parents live in Pennsylvania after having the panic attack, then in S3 EP3 mentions to Magda that they live in Pennsylvania, however, in S4 EP8, Miranda goes to Philadelphia as it's where her parents live.
Correction: Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania.
Corrected entry: When Bill Kelly arrives at Carrie's apartment to pick her up for their 'date', he calls her on her apartment phone. But when they were talking on the steps of her apartment previously, he had told Carrie that her phone number was unlisted and she nodded. She didn't give him her number, so how was he able to call her? (00:22:00)
Correction: Bill explains that he has managed to get her phone number through his connections at work.
Corrected entry: Miranda and Steve are sitting on Miranda's sofa eating Chinese food and discussing Steve's cancer surgery. There's a close-up shot of Steve, who is wearing eyeglasses. The shot cuts to a close-up of Miranda and then back to Steve, who is now not wearing any glasses. He is not holding them, nor are they on the coffee table.
Correction: He is holding his glasses. You can see them as he gets the last spring roll.
Corrected entry: When Steve and Debbie are leaving Miranda's apartment, Steve calls out, "Bye Martha". The woman he is referring to is named Magda. (00:13:30)
Correction: He says "Bye, Magda", but with his thick New York accent, it could be misunderstood by some as sounding like "Martha".
Corrected entry: When Aiden punches the hole through the wall of Carrie's bedroom, we can see that her entire bed is carefully covered in cloth and plastic. But despite that much preparation, the empty book shelves are still attached to the same wall, and her bed is still pushed up against it. If they were thorough enough to completely cover the bed, then why not remove everything from the wall? It doesn't make sense that the shelves and bed would still be on the wall that Aiden is trying to demolish. (00:12:55)
Correction: Carrie has been having a hard time coming to terms with the renovation the whole time. One would assume that not moving the bed or shelves would be one way Aiden could accomplish the demolition without totally upending Carrie's apartment and making her even more apprehensive about the construction project.
Anchors away - S5-E1
Corrected entry: When the girls are walking down the street after eating, they all decide to go shopping downtown. Only Miranda says, "I forgot the Snuggly", implying that she can't go shopping with them. So Samantha rushes her off in a taxi. But in reality, this doesn't make sense. Miranda has already been out with Brady for hours, eating with the girls in a restaurant and then walking with him in NYC. So why would he suddenly need his 'Snuggly' to go shopping? If he was fine with all the activity before that, there is no reason he wouldn't have continued to be fine while shopping. (00:05:25)
Correction: Babies tire easily and are comforted by routine. If Miranda had already "been out with Brady for hours", it's likely that he would have been ready for a nap. Having the Snuggly would have enabled Miranda to continue her day with the girls, while also allowing Brady to snuggle up and have that nap. Also, we cannot assume, based on just what was shown, that "he was fine with all the activity before that". We have no way of knowing that.
Corrected entry: After Samantha and Richard go 'skinny dipping', they start dancing in robes by the pool. Samantha is still wearing what look like expensive dangling diamond earrings, and has obviously just swam in chlorinated water with them on. Samantha is known for her expensive taste in clothing and accessories; so even if her earrings are not actual diamonds, they are probably still very expensive, good quality jewelry. It seems illogical that she would risk damaging expensive earrings, wearing them while swimming. Even if she forgot to take them off before getting in the pool; they are very long dangling earrings, and she would have certainly noticed pretty quickly that she had them on. (00:24:25)
Correction: It's pretty safe to say that during her midnight swim with Richard, the very last thing on Samantha's mind was her earrings. If anything, being that she's Samantha, she probably thought "Oh well, I'll just buy a new pair."
Corrected entry: When Carrie spots the Manolo Blahnik black Mary Jane shoes in the Vogue Accessory Closet, there is a close-up of the shoes sitting on the shelf. In the previous episode, it was established that Carrie wears size 7 1/2 in shoes (when she was shopping with Miranda). But when we see the Mary Janes on the shelf, and when Carrie holds them in her hands; they appear to be much larger than size 7 1/2. They look about size 8-10. Yet when Carrie tries them on; she mentions that they 'almost fit', and seems to be having trouble squeezing her feet into them. The implication is that the shoes are actually too tight for her, a smaller size than what she actually wears. Yet instead of looking smaller than size 7 1/2, the shoes are apparently much larger. Correction: Different shoes fit differently depending on the person. First of all, it is impossible to tell a shoe's size based on camera angle or how it appears on a television screen. Secondly, it's possible they "almost fit" due to being too narrow, not having an adjustable strap, or many other reasons, rather than the assumption that they would be too big.
Corrected entry: When Miranda offers to take Carrie to a bad Bridal shop, it sounds like she says, "I'll treat you to a 'Tasty Lite'". But when Carrie answers her, she says, "You're gonna have to do a lot better than 'Tasty Delite'". Later in this episode when the girls are talking at the restaurant, Carrie again refers to the place as 'Tasty Delite' which is apparently the real name. Cynthia Nixon must have gotten her lines slightly wrong, calling it 'Tasty Lite'. (00:07:30 - 00:11:35)
Correction: Miranda definitely says "Tasti D-Lite," which is the correct name of the chain. She simply says it very quickly, as New Yorkers often do.
Take me out to the ballgame - S2-E1
Corrected entry: When Samantha sees Carrie's picture in the paper, she says 'honey, that dress just paid for itself.' The picture is tiny, black and white and shows Carrie from the shoulders up; all you can see in it are the dress straps and just barely. (00:12:40)
Correction: The comment meant that the dress had cost a lot of money but the instant press of her with Joe would have a big payment. That kind of press was going to make Big drool and the public jealous. Hence, that expensive dress paid for itself, she was photographed. Doesn't matter that the dress isn't actually seen in the photo.
Corrected entry: When Carrie is telling Samantha about her bad experience in bed with Berger in season 6, Samantha suggests she heat things up and suggests shoes with fake fur on them. Carrie refuses, saying she wouldn't wear furry shoes, yet in a season 1 episode, Carrie buys herself furry shoes.
Correction: Carrie's taste in shoes may have changed in the years between season 1 and season 6. Just look at how many times her hairstyles changed. Maybe she disliked furry shoes by the time season 6 came along.
Corrected entry: In this episode when Charlotte is talking to the Rabbi, she says, 'I'm a 37 year old woman.' She celebrated her 36th birthday in the episode "Luck be an old lady" in series 5. However, how is it possible that she's turned 37 when Miranda had Brady at the end of series 4 and he didn't turn 1 till later on in series 6 - so how has Charlotte aged a year?
Correction: The 5th series was cut short because Sarah Jessica Parker became pregnant, therefore creating a gap between the 5th and 6th series of at least 9 months. The character and actress for Charlotte would have no doubt become a year older in that time. This is never addressed in the show because Sarah Jessica Parker wasn't supposed to have been pregnant, but it still explains why Charlotte is suddenly 37.
Corrected entry: When Steve comes to Miranda's and she's prepared a seduction, she mentions that it's 2am. Several minutes pass and they fight, after which he leaves. A whole bunch of other stuff happens with the other characters, then the scene goes back to Miranda's apartment, where she's supposedly been trying to sleep for a while; and it's still 2am.
Correction: The night that he rings is a totally different night.
Corrected entry: When the girls are sitting by the pool discussing men, Samantha at one point says, "No one wants to admit they're in a looney bin". To which Carrie replies, "On a first date", referencing her high school boyfriend Jeremy. But Jeremy actually told Carrie about the mental institution on their second date, when she invited him over to her apartment. Their first date was dinner at the restaurant, where they met. Correction: This isn't a mistake. When Carrie says "On a first date" it's tagged along to what Samantha said, as in "No one wants to admit they're in a looney bin." "On a first date" meaning that her boyfriend DIDN'T say anything about a mental institution on the first date, but rather on the second.
Corrected entry: When Charlotte wakes up in the morning next to Harry, she turns over to talk to him. At this point, you can see that she is still wearing a simple gold wedding band on her right hand. This makes no sense, as she is completely divorced and already dating someone else. She wouldn't still be wearing her wedding ring from her marriage with Trey. (00:11:00)
Correction: This most likely isn't her wedding ring, because she gave her old ring to Carrie in season 4 after her breakup with Aiden. Carrie needed to buy her apartment from Aiden, who purchased it when she realized her building was going co-op, and Charlotte gave her the ring from her wedding with Trey to help Carrie out. Women wear all different types of rings, and on Sex and the city, they always wear some sort of jewelry and have accessories.
Correction: Charlotte wears a simple gold band throughout the series, even before she met Trey.
A woman's right to shoes (a.k.a. no shoes, no service) - S6-E9
Corrected entry: When Carrie is telling the rest of the girls at the restaurant, about her shoes being stolen, Charlotte asks her 'who would steal shoes at a party'. Carrie answers, "Someone Size 7 with excellent taste". But previously in season 4, episode 16, when Carrie and Miranda are shoe shopping together, Carrie asks to try on Size 7 1/2. Her shoe size apparently changes throughout the series from 7 to 7 1/2. Her actual feet, however are much larger as you can see from close-ups of the real shoes. (00:08:20)
Correction: Not everyone wears the same exact size shoe for every type of shoe. Some shoe designers run a little big, and some run a little small. Also, certain types of shoes are built differently, so your size can be different from the size you wear with your other shoes.
Correction: Since the shot is a close-up, and we're all well aware of the character's name, this is too obvious to be considered trivia.
No, it isn't too obvious to be considered trivia. I had not noticed the bunny symbolism with the key chain at all, until it was pointed out in the DVD commentary. Others probably did not either, as it was not that obvious. Therefore, this was an interesting 'easter egg' trivia.
