Revealing mistake: When Captain Morrow welds the door to lock Zevari out of the Mother room, the computer screen reads "Crew Status?.. Crew Dead." In the next angle, this same text is reflected on Morrow's head, but it still reads the same way. The text should be flipped like a mirror since it's a reflection off his skin. (00:27:35)
Factual error: After the spaceship collides with another craft in orbit, it crashes through multiple buildings before coming to a stop embedded in a large structure. Despite this violent descent and impact, scenes inside the wreck show delicate objects, like equipment, containers, and tools, still neatly resting on tables and shelves instead of being thrown around by the crash. (00:48:55)
Suggested correction: It is a spaceship built and controlled by advanced future technology; there could be several systems on that ship preventing items from being thrown about. A popular technology in sci-fi is inertia dampers or null fields that can hold items in place.
While "inertial dampeners" exist in other sci-fi, Alien: Earth never establishes such tech. The Alien series is known for grounded, industrial realism; objects always scatter in crashes or turbulence. Given the ship's massive impact through buildings, items staying neatly on tables isn't consistent with the tone or physics of the series.
1) The ships have artificial gravity and faster-than-light drives. This means that they are able to manipulate Newtonian physics. 2) Doesn't the fact that everything isn't smashed establish that they have some kind of "inertial dampers"?
Continuity mistake: When Kirsh is leading the Hybrid Synthetics to the helicopter/dropship on the landing pad, Kirsh is walking out front in the middle of the group. Then the camera cuts to behind them as they start to board the ship, and suddenly the taller guy is right behind Kirsh, to where you can't even see Kirsh. Before then, we see Kirsh start to go up the ramp, being almost to the left of the tall guy, no longer in the middle. (00:47:40)
Continuity mistake: When Wendy comes into the room to tell the other Hybrid Synthetics that there's a spaceship crash and they are now a rescue team, the guy with the brown shirt is lying down on the couch and lifts his torso up a little bit to look at her. In the next shot, he's now almost fully sitting up looking at her. The black guy in the blue shirt lying next to the couch also seems to move closer to the couch, almost hugging it, between shots. (00:47:25)
Continuity mistake: When the kids turned, Hybrid Synthetics are in a group circle; three of them are back to back in the middle. As the one called Nibs in the brown shirt says, "I didn't like it." Behind her is the one in the blue shirt, and she lifts her head up. The angle changes to another shot, and suddenly the blue shirt girl's head is down again for her to raise it up once more. (00:46:35)
Continuity mistake: The technician hands Wendy headphones and tells her to put them on and raise her hand when she hears a tone. She is putting on the headphones with both hands, and he raises his hand to demonstrate when saying this. In the next shot, her fingers are in different positions on the headphones, and his hand changes from fingers being straight up and down to more curled. (00:42:25)
Character mistake: After the ship crashes in the city, Search and Rescue enter the scene to get people out of the buildings and ship and save lives. It's a rescue mission... so why the heck are they sending in soldiers fully armed with weapons drawn at the ready to rescue people from a crashed ship? The rescue team doesn't know of the alien threat inside. The people who sent them in also don't know. It was identified as a science vessel. Yet they go in armed with guns at the ready. (00:36:30)
Continuity mistake: When the bald girl is talking to Kirsh about the scorpion, the IV vial hanging beside her initially has its label turned so that the metal support bar is covering it. Later, as she turns back to ask if he's going to kill it, the vial is shown again with the label now fully visible, the bar no longer covering it. (00:10:00 - 00:10:30)
Continuity mistake: After Captain Morrow threatens to put the older guy confined to quarters once they argue over the specimens, the doctor is sitting on the right side of the screen with his hands between his legs. The camera cuts to a different angle as the older man walks away, and suddenly the doctor's hand is on top of his leg. (00:06:20)
Continuity mistake: At the dinner table, one of the guys asks about the moon, and the girl next to him says, "No, that's Dynamic." Her hand is up on her shoulder by her face and empty. There is a split-second cutaway to two older men, then back to her as she continues talking about "Yutani has Mars and Saturn," mid-sentence, and suddenly now she has a spoon in her hand and it's down at her bowl. (00:03:40)
Continuity mistake: At the start, the crew just woke up and are eating. The one guy has a bowl, and the doctor tells him he's not supposed to have a heavy meal yet. He takes the bowl to set it down. The woman in the peach-coloured shirt next to the doctor is holding her bowl and has her spoon in it. Then, in the next shot, suddenly she's only just now picking up her bowl to bring the spoon to it.
