Death in Paradise

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the scene with Pete Thunders in a bar - when they ask him about the loss caused by the sponsor defamation - a guy in a yellow tee walks out of the bar. At the end of the scene, when Florence gets a phone call, the same guy makes his exit stage right again. (00:21:45 - 00:23:30)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: JP shows Goodman what he found; in the cut before the moment he presses the button. Humphrey suddenly has his fingers touching his lips, while he had both hands down an instant before. (00:19:55)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Factual error: Humphrey mentions that the fire that destroyed the recording studio happened in July 1991. The first page of the Saint Marie Times carrying the news though has Thursday 12th as a date; in July 1991, the 12th was a Friday. (00:16:25 - 00:16:55)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Revealing mistake: Florence prints the first page from the Saint Marie newspaper, from a generic "Thursday 12th"; the whole first page is taken by the news of the fire destroying the recording studio...but half of the article talks about "the world's largest message in a bottle", instead. (00:16:25)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: After checking out the planters, Humphrey walks along the pool saying the killer "covered their tracks by staging the scene", and goes on through an editing cut. Florence had both hands together in the first shot, in the second she's listening with her hand under her chin. (00:12:25)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: To round up the first interview, Humphrey gets up and asks where everyone was when the death occurred. In the wider angle he is holding the slip of paper in hand, which he didn't have standing up. (00:11:25)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: Throughout the whole first interview with the band, the pretentious guitarist, co-songwriter and whatnot (Pete Thunders) keeps having different positions leaning against the door or not, and his beer bottle switches hand repeatedly for no reason. If sometimes that is technically possible (but unlikely) due to brief cutaway shots, other times it is not (such as when Vince Thuram says "this is my place). (00:09:00)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: Introducing the various members of the music crew, Florence asks who the last member is. Vince Thuram, the producer, answers, but in the meantime there's been a cut, and the manager who had both hands in her lap, is now sitting with one hand behind, on the pillow. (00:09:55)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: Before the phone rings, the new DS asks "And you?" to the goofy inspector, who is rubbing his foot with his wet sock in the left hand. Cut, and he's rubbing it with both hands all of a sudden. Florence's hands also equally suddenly go from above to below the belt. (00:04:30)

Episode #4.5 - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: In the intro, Cheryl Moore says "We are going to break America"; her arms are raised, and yet mid-sentence in a cut when she's just partially in frame, she has them low. (00:01:10)

Episode #4.4 - S4-E4

Other mistake: On the first day of investigations, Florence says that "two days ago" the victim withdrew a large sum of money. A CCTV shot is shown later in the episode, establishing that day as March 9th 2015 - remarkably consistent with the date of the previous episode and the coroner's report. So it is the 11th, and the investigation concludes on the 12th, a Thursday. However, at the end of the episode, Dwayne says that it's Saturday.

Season 1 generally

Revealing mistake: In most episodes of the season, the computers at the station lack the power cable. It might make sense in the very first episode when it is mentioned that they aren't in a working state, but under Richard's guidance they routinely use it afterwards. For instance in episode 3 Camille during Tom Hilton's interview, Camille is looking at an active computer screen despite it being unplugged.

Episode #4.4 - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: In the sequence with Camille handing Humphrey the marker that tips his conscience, he is holding the cork in different ways between the various shots. (00:34:35)

Sammo

Episode #4.4 - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: Camille answers the phone of the police station. Humphrey is biting his nails...but it's the nails of his left hand in one shot, right hand in the other. (00:30:00)

Episode #4.4 - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: Catherine arrives bringing beer. She puts one next to Camille, and the neck label is positioned with the part with no logo facing the camera. In the following close-ups of Sara Martins though, the yellow circle with anchor logo is facing the camera. (00:24:20)

Episode #4.4 - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: Humphrey uses a blue paper tissue to try and write down the pros and cons list; in the table close-up, the cup of goobers and the coaster are roughly aligned on the same plank, while they are at greater distance in the other shots. (00:23:40)

Erupting in Murder - S6-E1

Trivia: A bit of the episode has been cut for the streaming releases; at the end of the scene with Humphrey taking Martha's luggage, he would make a date with her for the next day, to cook dinner for her at 8. This has been eliminated probably because it created timing issues with 8 PM being too well lit (in contrast with the supposed timing of the murder) and the ending takes place at Catherine's for a cute drinking scene anyway. Show generally

Question: When Richard reminisces about England, he talks about going to the pub and having a pint. Yet the whole time he's in Saint Marie, he is never seen to drink alcohol with the rest of the team; only cups of tea. Why?

Answer: Most likely they had only tropical exotic drinks, he wanted an old fashioned English beer.
