The First Purge (2018)

Factual error: You can't detonate C-4, or any plastic explosive, by shooting at it. It's made to only be detonated by a smaller explosion (a detonator). (01:27:05)

Aquaman (2018)

Factual error: Aquaman lifts a submerged submarine towards the surface, which should start to sink again straight after releasing it, as its ballast tanks are still full of water. It shouldn't stay floating like that.

Fail Safe (2000)

Factual error: Near the end of the film Colonel Cascio calls his mom in NYC to tell her to get out. However, there is absolutely no way they let someone inside the control room contact the outside world at this point giving out warnings or sensitive information about the situation. Any contact with the outside world is cut.

Factual error: They inject the infected Brunel with antibiotics to fight the bacteria, however there is no pulse and that means the antibiotic can never spread through the body, as there is no blood circulation.

Factual error: Doesn't matter how good the programmer/hacker is you cannot override NORAD and launch its missiles remotely without authorization. Especially not on your own with just the presidential identification.

Factual error: An ICBM is not an AA missile, yet from NORAD the terrorists aim one to take down Air Force One. An ICBM cannot be told to take down a plane, it doesn't have the guidance or right detonation capabilities.

The Ruins (2008)

Factual error: Jeff, being a medical student doesn't really seem to know how to make sure infection doesn't occur. In the scenes where he is cutting out parts of plant from Stacy's body he pours alcohol on her body before cutting it. This is totally useless as he doesn't put alcohol on his hands, the knife or inside the open wound after he cuts it. Infection as almost certain to happen because of this. This is practically impossible to not know by a medical student.

Battleship (2012)

Factual error: The USS Missouri is a 68-year-old museum ship. Only a few museum ships are still able to sail under their own power. The USS Missouri, however, is not one of them, and could never have left port. There is no fuel on board, corrosion has done serious damage to the rotor blades and controls, and if one was to try and refire the boilers, they would surely explode. Also, there is no ammunition on board, plus all controls have been stripped, and all tubes and barrels blocked to prevent dirt from damaging them. Therefore, it cannot ever fire a shot again. Though it was renovated in 2010, it was mostly to prevent it from rusting away and sinking.

Factual error: When Luke puts the starting cables on the battery of the pick-up truck sparks fly from the connection. However since he hasn't connected the cables to anything on the other end yet no sparks should be visible. Next to that the battery is nearly dead so there is no power to give the sparks in the first place.

Factual error: The town in which a large part of the movie is shot is supposed to be Wismar, Germany. However the architecture of the town shows it's in The Netherlands. Delft, to be exact.

Suggested correction: Delft was used as a location, but the town square is not all that different from what an early modern North German city would look like. You can spot it if you know the place, but that applies to so many movies. In itself this is not a mistake, unless there were something that really betrayed it.

Spiny Norman

Factual error: The Captain of the ship writes in his logs that they travelled the Caspian Sea, the Caspian sea however is land-locked.

2012 (2009)

Factual error: About an hour into the movie the plane with our heroes in it is being chased by a pyroclastic flow from the Yellowstone eruption. The flow at one point fully overtakes the plane. A pyroclastic flow is comprised of hot gas and rock sometimes over 1000° Celsius. It not just dust and smoke. The plane would have been ripped apart by both the temperature and the fast flying rocks. Instead it came out of the flow without a scratch.

2012 (2009)

Factual error: Little over an hour into the movie, Yellowstone blows up into a huge volcano. The pyroclastic flow that follows the camper is going at such a speed (the speed of the flow can be seen when the plane is in the air) that it would have overtaken the camper well before it has reached the plane. Even if the cloud would have been slowed down by hills, it would have, after the camper reached the plane, overtaken the plane long before it could take off.
