Factual error: Alex Peterson is continually referred to by everyone as the Secretary of Defence. This is an American title. The British equivalent is Secretary of State for Defence. "Defence Secretary" is used as an abbreviation; Secretary of Defence never is.

Factual error: Staff Sergeant O'Hanlon is addressed several times by other soldiers as "Sir." Staff sergeants are never addressed as "Sir", and no soldier would ever do it. "Staff Sergeant" or "Staff" is the correct form of address.

Factual error: The BBC announcer says it has been almost thirty years since the coronation. Since the film is set in 1970 and the coronation was in 1953, this is completely incorrect. Not a mistake the BBC is likely to have made.

Factual error: Emir's rank insignia as a Bulgarian naval officer is incorrect. He appears to be wearing the three stars of a vice-admiral on his epaulettes (far too senior to command the ship he commands), but the rank rings on his lower sleeve (two narrow rings above one regular) are completely made up.

Factual error: The police sergeant who visits Ann after she reports her daughter missing is wearing rank chevrons on his tunic sleeves and his epaulettes. When wearing a tunic, British police sergeants only wear chevrons on the sleeves. Note that this entry refers to the 2025 TV series, not the 2003 TV series.

Factual error: Air Commodore Cyril Cooke is referred to as Sir Cyril. This is during the war, but he wasn't actually knighted until 1947.

Factual error: The Third Crusade is continually referred to as being in Arabia against the Arabs. In fact, it was in Palestine (then generally known in Europe as the Holy Land or Outremer) against the Ayyubids, who were mostly of Egyptian, North African and Syrian extraction. Although many would have been what we would today call Arabs, the term was not used for them then - they were generally known in the West as Saracens.

Factual error: Three inspectors are candidates for the 'job' of chief superintendent and one is appointed. But British police promotion doesn't work like this. Chief superintendent is a rank, not a job, and inspector is three ranks below it. Officers do not skip ranks. The only possible candidates for a post carrying the rank of chief superintendent would be an existing chief superintendent making a sideways move or a superintendent who could be promoted to the next higher rank.

Factual error: It is stated that Christopher and Corinne settle in Pittsburgh. However, when Christopher is killed in a car accident, the police officers who come to inform Corinne are in a Virginia State Police car. Most of the rest of the series is set in Virginia, probably leading to the mistake, but this scene is not.

Factual error: The Six Triple Eight depicted has officers and privates but no NCOs whatsoever. In reality, the battalion had the same complement of corporals and sergeants as any other battalion.
