Factual error: The Joads take off for California. They pass a sign for Route 66, so they are already headed west on Route 66, between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. They then see a sign for Sallisaw City Limit. Sallisaw is in the eastern part of the state, well south of Route 66. They would never have seen a sign for Sallisaw after they reached Route 66 since they would have been far north or far west of Sallisaw. They pass Checotah, which is west of OKC.
