The Book of Henry (2017)

Plot hole: After making multiple complaints/pleas to Principal Wilder and calling CPS to no avail, Henry concluded he was out of resources - it was up to him to do something to protect Christina. Susan encountered the same road blocks and agreed with Peter that Henry would not have left other possibilities uncovered... but he DID. Some options would be: acquiring evidence and/or getting Christina to call CPS; turning to Dr. Daniels; informing a teacher or school nurse; calling State (not local) police. (01:01:29 - 01:02:48)

The Book of Henry (2017)

Plot hole: Neither Henry's nor his mother's (Susan) calls to the Saratoga County Help Line #1-518-555-0121 were successful in protecting Christina. The last woman Susan talked to said, "We [CPS] are required to follow standard operating procedures" and Susan could file an appeal. "The best interests of the child" is supposed to be paramount, so it is unlikely CPS would say such a thing. And not one "professional" Henry or Susan contacted mentioned the NATIONAL Child Abuse Hotline #1-800-422-4452. (01:02:38)

The Book of Henry (2017)

Plot hole: Henry gave Principal Wilder reasons he believed Christina was being abused: "Bruises, exhaustion, decreasing school performance." When Susan confronted Glenn near the treehouse, she said, "I know what you've done. Emergency room visits, school absences, bruises..." Neither had any concrete evidence/proof. Emergency room visits should have resulted in detection or suspicion of abuse if that's what doctors or nurses believed, and they are among the mandatory reporters. Maybe Henry was wrong. The Predator (2018)

Plot hole: Quinn gave the box containing the Predator's equipment to a Mexican and told him to send it to a P.O. Box in the U.S. He also gave the man an unknown amount of money for the postage. Without questioning IF the Mexican would follow his instructions and had enough money, sending a package internationally is not that simple. The package would need to go through customs and several documents would need to be completed. The contents must be disclosed. It is doubtful it would pass Customs.

Dismissed (2017)

Plot hole: Principal Fermont gave Mr. Butler a "solid recommendation" for the professorship position he was applying for and Mr. Butler thought he was going to be hired. However, colleges/universities typically require applicants to hold a PhD in the field of study. Mr. Butler would not be likely to get through the Search Committee's initial screening with his M.A, and would not get hired. [There are far many more people with PhDs than there are openings and tenure-track positions are rare these days.]. (00:33:34)

The Virtuoso (2021)

Plot hole: After the Sheriff crashed into a tree, the Virtuoso passed him up but returned. The Virtuoso asked the Sheriff if he knew "White Rivers" and the Sheriff responded, "Yeah, I know it." The Virtuoso then shot at the Sheriff who was a few feet away and hit him in the neck. The Sheriff was able to run away. Instead of the Virtuoso quickly shooting again, he watched the Sheriff run into the woods and chased him. Despite being "experts", each made numerous shots that missed the other. The Penthouse (2021)

Plot hole: Charles was a con man, going up the east coast (Florida and North Carolina) offering to do cheap storm repairs, taking the 50% cash down-payment and moving on (fleeing to the next location). As such, he would try to stay away from police/law enforcement officers and not call attention to himself. Filing (bogus) criminal complaints against Peter put Charles in direct contact with the police - a very risky and stupid move on his part.

Z (2019)

Plot hole: Dr. Seager told Beth that "It [Z] was all in her head" and only she could stop it. How, then, did her son Josh have the same "imaginary friend Z"? Moreover, if Beth had Z as a friend when she was eight years old, why didn't she remember him or have her memory jogged when Josh first told her about his friend Z? Also, if Beth told Z that they would be together forever (get married and have a lot of kids), why would Z need to go through Josh to get to her?

Passengers (2016)

Plot hole: Starship Avalon is supposed to be an extremely highly advanced spaceship with capabilities well beyond current technology. Because the pods are supposed to be "fail-safe"/fail-proof, no provisions whatsoever were made to detect a pod failure or sound an alarm - a severe "oversight" for the ingenious people/engineers behind its creation. There apparently are sensors everywhere to automatically activate certain things (e.g, doors, holograms) when a passenger or crew member enters or approaches yet some of the things the holograms said indicated they were preprogrammed to say certain things, even though those things weren't appropriate under the circumstances. For example, soon after Jim entered the room for Learning Group 38, a hologram said, "Hello, passengers. Will you all take a seat." Surely there would be a sensor to detect that all the passengers supposed to be present were or know that almost all were not! The holograms/androids could not respond to some anomalies.

Plot hole: After the incident in Chemistry class, Adam was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Next, Adam found out that he was expelled from school. What happened during Chemistry class was attributed to Adam's "first psychotic break" - which would fall under a medical condition for which Adam could not have prevented or controlled. The Department Of Education has laws protecting students like Adam (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act or IDEA, enacted in 1975), and the school is required to meet the child's / student's needs. An Individual Education Program (IEP) should have been prepared for Adam by his school, so the expulsion served to further the plot. (00:06:00 - 00:06:30)

Plot hole: It seems highly unlikely that Lucas would be able to "mess with" Mr. Butler's application for a professorship position, or be able to accomplish what he did in such a short amount time. Off-screen, Lucas went into Mr. Butler's briefcase (foolishly left on his desk in the classroom during lunchtime) and (correctly) assumed Mr. Butler's application was on his laptop. Lucas would have to be able to figure out Mr. Butler's password (something that could take forever), find the right file on his laptop, read or scan the application to determine what he could do to mess it up, write a new answer for "qualities that make me a good teacher", and leave the classroom before anyone saw him. Lucas would also have to assume that Mr. Butler would not notice the change when he printed the application, made a photocopy, and double-checked the application before inserting it in the envelope and mailing it.

Plot hole: Detective Speck essentially believed everything that Lucas told him about Mr. Butler's "love relationship" with Becca. The detective took the word of a student over that of a teacher and by using what could hardly be called an "investigation." This trusting of what a new high school student said, especially in combination with the teacher's denial, is extremely poor and inexcusable behavior on the part of a detective (who appeared to be old enough to be quite experienced and even retire... years ago). Believing the word of Lucas fed into the plot that Lucas was a sociopath - capable of fooling a seasoned detective and thereby remaining uncaught and not exposed for what he really was - and help build suspense.

Plot hole: Even though the Brady Bunch kids won $20,000 (check, not cash) in the "Search for the Stars" contest, they would not have immediate access to it, so would not be able to merely take the oversized representative check - which would be nonlegal tender - to pay for the taxes; they would have to wait until they received an authentic hard copy (real check) and wait until the check "cleared" the bank (was legitimate and payable). Clearing the check could take weeks because the Brady's didn't have at least $20,000 in their checking account to cover what could be a bogus check. (01:19:03)
