The Bad Guys (2022)

The Bad Guys is an amusing story about a group of belittled and conniving 3-D animals who do heists that are then set up by an unlikely creature who wants power, like in Superpets. Done by the folks behind Turning Red, it has a zany cast of lovable losers who become winners thanks to a fox friend.

The Witch (2015)

The Witch is a spooky and strange tale of a family of settlers who are cast out and living alone in the wilderness when unusual and disturbing things happen to them, including a black goat supposedly talking to the youngest children. Anya Taylor-Joy stars as Thomasin, a girl who is believed to be bewitched. By the end, you may agree.

The Addams Family is just a great wild ride with a captivating cast as the spooky but nice family join together to find Uncle Fester. Funny, macabre and at times touching, the Addams Family is a family movie that's for young and old alike, with or without Halloween.

DC League of Super-Pets is a fun, not-so-serious take on super-beings and their animal sidekicks as a jealous Guinea Pig named Lulu decides to destroy the DC heroes and animals that resemble their powers. Lots of laughs, some peril and plenty of do-daring make this movie a hit for all ages! Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and others lend voices to the creatures. Stay to the very end for some credit scenes-they're worth it.

Under the Skin (2013)

This is a strange and haunting film. Scarlett Johansson plays a seductive yet naive alien who brings lonely and forgotten men to her apartment where they're consumed by an entity. She, herself, is consumed by the world and experiences to the point that she runs away, only to be put into flames.

The Fly (1986)

The Fly is a remake/re-imagining of the horror classic where a doctor experiments with teleportation with terrifying results! Seth Brundle goes from man to something else and his girlfriend suffers as his mind becomes fragmented and delusional. Sick and sad story of a man fighting his own dark, insect instincts as he mutates into a monster. Great film.

Lilo & Stitch (2002)

Lilo and Stitch is a delightful movie about a lonely little Hawaiian girl who loves Elvis and her family as well as a strange dog that becomes her best friend...the surly-yet-sweet blue alien experiment known as Stitch. The very odd couple try to avoid somewhat-mad scientist Jumba and his bizarre friend Pleakley was well as the menacing Captain Gantu with the help of her sister Nani and boyfriend David. Fun, mild violence and just plain crazy antics make this movie endearing for all! Watch.

Morbius (2022)

Morbius is the latest in a trend of Marvel movies to be just not very good. Jared Leto stars as the titular character, who becomes an anti-hero through experiments with bat saliva and blood. His "brother" Milo, who is suffering from some disease like Morbius, also gets his "Curse" of superhuman strength, speed, flight, etc. but goes on a rampage. Deaths ensue and gratuitous violence follow, along with smoky affects and a deadpan delivery. This is just two stars, and no-one knows if a sequel will be produced.

Westworld (1973)

Westworld is a 1973 Sci-fi thriller about catastrophic malfunctions at a resort for the wealthy, killing many. Yul Brynner is the Gunslinger, an advanced and very deadly robot. Creepy and with mounting tension. Great little lead-in to the current series.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is Sports Comedy about an unlikely and unlucky group of oddball friends from a poorly-rated gym who enter a tournament to save their place from a greedy and manipulative businessman and his terrible team. What follows is pure comedy delivered by Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller and others as they Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and...Dodge their way into your hearts. A fun time.

The Boy (2016)

The Boy was an interesting little horror mystery thriller about an old couple who want their son taken care of...problem is, he's a porcelain doll. "Brahms" has rules everyone must follow or he seems to get very angry. Chaos soon follows as the doll may or may not be a large disfigured man living between the walls of a mansion who gives life and voice to "Brahms," A decent thrill ride with odd twists.

Erik M.

Brahms: The Boy II is a weaker and implausible horror story about a realistic doll that so happens to be with various families where murders take place, kind of like Annabelle of The Conjuring series. In this tale, a mother is attacked during a home invasion witnessed by a child who becomes, for a time, a mute. He finds the doll buried and, honestly, should have left it there, but alas, he and his family bring it home and strange happenings follow. It's very dull and follows many tropes, only to be a disappointment. You've been warned.

Sing (2016)

Sing is a musical comedy about a bunch of adorable misfit animals who share a love for music and the theatre and the koala who brings them all together for a show. Great tunes, a good plot and cute characters bring it all to life. The red pandas are just so Kawaii!!

Sing 2 (2021)

Sing 2 is an amazing family adventure about music and dance-loving animals who want to perform at their dream venue...IF they can avoid being derailed by an angry wolf and his henchman, a down-and-out lion missing his mate, a lonely elephant, and a lot more. Famous songs, a great script, lovable characters and a few lessons pretty much leave me speechless and awestruck. Bravo.

Evolution (2001)

Evolution is a goofy comedy about an alien infestation coming from a crashed space rock. Silly creatures evolve and soon everyone tries to stop it in the most odd ways. It's OK.

Splinter (2008)

Splinter is about an escaped convict, his girlfriend and others who are trapped at a gas station with a spiked fungus-like creature that seeks out heat and consumes then re-animates the flesh in a gory mess. This is a pretty harsh movie with an ambiguous ending.

10,000 B.C. (2008)

This film was just Meh and I didn't quite care for it. Sabretoothed tigers, terror birds and pesky men on horses attack ice-age villagers who're just seeking mammoth. Watch another stone-age movie.

King Kong (2005)

King Kong is a dramatic retelling of the adventure tale about a giant ape falling in love with a human and vice-versa, and the doomed story it tells where fame, money/greed, and lost innocence take its toll. Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody, Andy Serkis and Jack Black star alongside the imaginative CGI gorilla and the many terrors of Skull Island. This is a must-see, so do not miss.
