Question: Why did the Russian gangster who pretended to be Lenore get Bryan to buy bagels?

Answer: I saw it as they needed Bryan out of the house to stage Lenore's body. Lenore had already been kidnapped the previous day and now they needed to plant her body in his home.

Question: In the beginning, Stu tells Adam to messenger a bottle of Jameson's over to Lana who works at Page Six. He also wants a note saying "Irish chicken soup" to be delivered to her. What does he mean? And what is Jameson's?

Chosen answer: Jameson's is a brand of Irish whiskey. He is making a joke that the whiskey is food, the same as chicken soup.

Phone Booth (2002)

Question: At the end of the movie, Stu was hit by a rubber bullet. Did the caller shoot it? Why didn't he kill Stu? The caller loved Kelly, didn't he?

Chosen answer: The police fired the rubber bullets in an attempt to end the standoff without killing Stu. There's no indication the caller loved or personally knew Kelly. At the end, he warns Stu to maintain his new-found honesty or else face repercussions. He also tells him he's done the same thing to others who were dishonest.

Question: When Captain Ramey tries to persuade Stu, he asks him what he is doing in a phone booth making calls, then Stu says, "You want to see it?" reaching for something, then the cops shout out him to stop. What was Stu going to show to Ramey?

Answer: He's reaching for his cell phone.

Chosen answer: Stu was reaching for the gun that the caller had planted in the phone booth as incriminating evidence.

Question: Jacob Kowalski kicks open the door of Graves' office at MACUSA. How could he just open it easily? Before he opens it, Queenie used the unlocking spell on the door, which didn't work.

Chosen answer: The door was magically locked, not magically sealed. Jacob, being a muggle who hasn't relied on magic his entire life, knew he could simply break the lock when he kicked the door.

Question: Newt manged to capture all of the escaped beasts except the billwig. Why did he give up on it? Because it's just a little insect? or he had already many of the species in the case?

Chosen answer: It's not known why he gave up. Newt did have to leave New York and there was no point in continuing the search at that time.

Question: Why does Graves want to find an Obscurial so badly?

Chosen answer: Obscurials often manifest around childhood. Children are young and influential, so Graves/Grindelwald can persuade one to let their magic free without much protest in a public place as an indestructible weapon. As we witnessed when Credence rampaged through New York, Obscurials would be far more destructive to whole cities than just casting a lot of spells.

There's WAY more to it than that-although you'd never know it if you only ever watched the original HP films and never read the books. In short, Graves/Grindelwald has had first-hand experience with an Obscurial before. Remember that painting Aberforth Dumbledore had on the wall of the Hog's Head Pub in Deathly Hallows Part 2? That was Ariana Dumbledore, his and Albus' sister. When she was a child, she was attacked by three Muggle boys who caught her doing magic, which traumatized her and caused her to become an Obscurial; the Obscurus inside her later killed the siblings' mother. At the same time, Dumbledore and Grindelwald were plotting together to bring wizards out of hiding and reassert their superiority over Muggles with the help of the Elder Wand. In the end, Aberforth confronted them, leading to a chaotic duel that resulted in Ariana being killed by a stray curse. Dumbledore and Grindelwald went their separate ways, with Grindelwald putting their visions of wizard supremacy into action, while Dumbledore's grief for his sister led him to repent and shun power for the rest of his life. Virtually none of this made it into the movies. But that's why Grindelwald wanted an Obscurial so badly-because he'd seen one before and knew first-hand how lethal they could be.

Actually, it was never 100% confirmed that Ariana did become an Obscurial.

Answer: In the second film in this series, Crimes of Grindelwald, it's revealed that Grindelwald had a vision years ago that he would use an Obscurial to aid him in killing Dumbledore, since the two of them were magically barred from fighting each other. That's why he was so determined to sway Credence to his side.

Question: How could the Erumpent the size of a whale escape out of Newt's case without Newt around, without his help (magic)? Can Erumpents shrink themselves like Occamies?

Chosen answer: Erumpents cannot change their size, however the suitcase is itself enchanted to allow objects of any size to enter and exit its magically expanded interior. Newt's presence is not required for this.

Answer: This might actually be a valid mistake. The exit of the suitcase is depicted as being inside a hut, at the ceiling. A savanna creature like that would not even consider that to be a route it might be able to take, because that requires (sorry for the pun) out-of-the-box thinking.

Perhaps that would be true for a non-magical creature; however, there are numerous references in the Wizarding World canon to magical creatures have human-like cognitive abilities (Kneazles are one prominent example), so perhaps Erumpents fall into the same category.

"Perhaps" or "Maybe" generally don't cut it. They usually denote attempts to justify a mistake. In the movie Erumpets aren't displaying any intelligence beyond that of a bull or rhinoceros.

I agree under normal circumstances the creature wouldn't try to escape. However, as Newt pointed out, this creature was in mating season and was looking for a partner; which is why she went to the zoo as there were the closest creatures she sensed to herself. Animals going out of their natural habitat when they sense a potential mating partner is a natural survival instinct real animals do. As real animals do this, it makes sense this creature would do the same thing as a real animal.

As said elsewhere, the exit is depicted as in the ceiling. Erumpets aren't displaying any intelligence beyond that of a bull or rhinoceros. Climbing out through a roof hatch is not in their behavioral patterns, mating season or not. A bull won't climb a ladder, no matter how many cows are on the roof.

127 Hours (2010)

Question: Aron tells Kristi and Megan that Blue John Canyon is actually named after Butch Cassidy's cook, Blue John. Is this true?

Chosen answer: The actual name is Bluejohn Canyon. According to online tourist info for Utah, "It appears to have been named after a minor Robbers Roost outlaw by the name of John Griffith. Griffith had one blue eye and one brown eye and thus was saddled with the nickname "Blue John." It is recognized that he kept stolen horses in the area, perhaps watering them at nearby springs. In the fall of 1899 Griffith is reported to have put in at Hite with a small boat with the intention of reaching Lee's Ferry. He was never heard from again."

Continuity mistake: There is a scene of Alice being dragged by a line behind Isaacs' tank ahead of a horde of zombies. There is no other line next to running Alice. When she climbs upon the tank to attack the guard, another line with torn hands is seen being dragged on the road, where Alice was dragged. (00:21:15 - 00:23:45)

Question: At the very beginning of the movie, Kyle sits on the bench alone in the empty subway station. She looks very shocked or frightened. Why is that? Because at that time, her husband David is not dead. He walks up to Kyle and they get on the yellow subway train home.

Answer: I believe he isn't really there. She's on her own on the way to the morgue but she's too scared to do it; that's why she's upset and why she takes long time to get on the train but he appears in her head to give her the courage to get up and get on the train to the morgue. It's done to set the scene.

Answer: He's not really there. On the plane, she tells the psychologist that she saw him, but that was her mind coping with his death. She imagines him helping her onto the train, walking home with her, sitting in the courtyard, but you can see there's only 1 set of footprints.

Chosen answer: It's never explained. She might have been concerned about something at work or there were problems with her marriage that she is contemplating. Personally, I attribute it partly to Jodi Foster's acting style. She tends to play scenes in an overly intense manner.

Chosen answer: He's not really there. On the plane, she tells the psychologist that she saw him, but that was her mind coping with his death. She imagines him helping her onto the train, walking home with her, sitting in the courtyard, but you can see there's only 1 set of footprints.

Answer: There's no explanation, but there seems to be some sort of tension or discord going on between them that may be putting some strain on their marriage. They may have wanted a more private place to discuss something where they knew their daughter could not overhear. They also acted this way when they're in the subway station, communicating that all is not right between them.

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

Question: At the very beginning of the movie, there is a shot of Andrea's diary. On the calendar page, it says "ELIAS-CLARKE HUMAN RESOURCES" and next to it, "Get a card + Prez for Jill." Who the heck is Jill? The name of Andrea's girlfriend who works at a gallery is Lily, though.

Answer: Jill is actually Andy's sister, not mentioned or shown in the movie but she's in several chapters of the book.

Chosen answer: Andy certainly has more girlfriends than only Lily. Jill is just someone she knows or who is a relative that does not appear in the film. This is meant to give substance to Andy, showing she has a busy life and interacts with many people.
