Corrected entry: In the love scene between donkey and dragon, the dragon lights the candles on the chandelier. When it falls on to the dragon's neck, they are not lit or smoking.
Correction: When Shrek is swinging on the chain the candles are lit, but whenever he falls past the candles they do actually go out. (You have to watch very carefully to see it.) So, the unlit chandelier can easily land on the dragons head, as Shrek blew the candles out with the gust of wind he created as he swung past them. Well done to the filmmaker's foresight for paying such attention to detail in this scene.
