General questions

I am trying to find the name of a horror movie that came out in the late 70's or early 80's. All I can remember about the plot was there was a person killing people via the telephone. He would call them, the other person would hear rapid beeping, then the phone would explode in their ear, killing them.

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: Cute name for the movie, "Murder By Phone", 1982. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081203/.

Question: Did i miss something? In the 1st pirates movie, the pirate with the glass eye tried to get rid of Jack and his crew. But in this movie they are part of his crew. I know they sneaked onto the ship, but nobody who saw them questioned them or recognized them as the pirates who tried to kill them before.

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: Pintel and Ragetti (the one with the wooden eye) are pirates. They are basically loyal to themselves and adapt to whatever the situation is that best serves their own purpose, rather than out of loyalty to anyone else. They'll serve under whoever offers the best motive or profit for doing so. The same goes for the captains. If they need a crew, they will utilize whoever is available at the moment, even if they know they've been disloyal in the past, as was the case when Jack allowed them back on his ship. This is a bit of a "running gag" in the series that the characters are constantly betraying one another.

Independence Day (1996)

Question: At the beginning of the movie at S.E.T.I. ,while the Asian guy is hitting the golf ball, what is the name of the song playing and who is the band?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: "It's the End of the World As We Know It" by R.E.M.

Question: Why was there never a tribute to Richard Harris in the credits of any of the Harry Potter movies? I understand he died 2 weeks before the Chamber of Secretes debuted in theaters, however there was plenty of time to put a tribute in the credits of The Prisoner of Azkaban.

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: Probably because it was eighteen months later by that point and, in the end, Harris really had nothing to do with that film, making a tribute to him in the credits inappropriate.

Question: When Dom and Bryan return to Dom's house after the police chase, Vince sees Bryan and asks Dom why he brought the "buster" there. What did Vince mean by calling Bryan a "buster?"

SAZOO1975

Answer: "Buster" is a slang term for someone who thinks they are cool but are not. It's kind of like saying "wannabe." It can also be generally used to simply describe someone uncool, without the pretense. In this context it is most similar to "dork." Either applies in Bryan's case, at least in Vince's eyes.

BaconIsMyBFF

Answer: Because Brian busted his car in the race.

Chosen answer: Calling him "buster" implies that he was the one that got them all busted. Like being a "narc" or an informant.

Don't think this would apply. He's first referred to as buster when he walks into the Toretto household by Dom after the first race. Before he reveals he's a cop to Mia and then later to Dom while calling an ambulance for Vince.

Question: I hear after the credits, there is an extra scene where you find out what happened to Dom. Can anybody describe this scene for me?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: The scene starts in Mexico where you see a Chevelle driving through the desert. It is driven by Dom who says that he lives his life a quarter of a mile at a time.

Vin15Nets

Question: It is repeated that Bryan owes Dom a 10 second car. To me, a car has 4 wheels and an engine. What is a "10 second car"?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: It's a car with the power to do a quarter-mile drag race of the type depicted in the film in ten seconds.

Cabin Fever (2016)

Question: What was the whole "pancake" scene all about? I understand the director had the kid doing karate for the movie because he was impressed with it. But what does the kid yelling "pancake" have to do with karate?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: Pancake is the name of Henry's dog, he shouted it after he found his dog dead by the disease. If you are wondering who Henry is, it's the guy at the beginning who got infected first in the film, and I guess the kid screaming it obviously knew what happened to Henry, he obviously knew Henry and Pancake.

Answer: When they bring Paul to the hospital he sees a person in a bunny suit holding a needle and a plate of pancakes over a kid. Maybe Dennis was there before.

Question: This is pertaining to the dice game where the crew were betting their years as part of Davey Jones's ship. Did anybody understand how the game worked. What was the purpose? What was the deal with the numbers they were calling out?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: This is a real game called Liar's Dice, specifically the Common Hand variation. The idea is to predict, or pretend to predict, what will appear when the dice are finally revealed; for example, a call of "six fives" is a claim that, when the dice are revealed, there'll be six (or more) fives showing. Each player, however, can only see their own set of dice, so must guess what the other players have, based on what bids they make. The game proceeds with each player having the choice to either raise the bid to a higher level, or challenge the preceding player's claim. Once a challenge is made, the dice are revealed; if the challenged bid is shown to be correct, the challenger loses; if it's shown to be false, then whoever made that bid loses.

Silent Hill (2006)

Question: Can somebody out there explain the ending for me? It made no sense. Someone told me they believed the mother and daughter, as well as the cop died in the accident and they were trapped in the town. However I don't buy that as the father and the other police found no bodies in the crash.

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: They did not die in the accident. Rather, Alessa's rage and the demon's power caused the town of Silent Hill to fracture into at least three different "dimensions" that we know of (the real world, "fog world" and "other world", plus potentially others). Rose and Sharon are unfortunately stuck inside of one of those alternative realities. The sequel also confirms that they are very much alive.
