Autumn Leaves (1956)

Continuity mistake: Milly is sitting up in bed with a pillow behind her. As the camera angle changes from facing her to behind her the position of the pillow keeps changing. In a shot of her the corner of the pillow is below the top of the headboard. The camera cuts to behind her and the corner of the pillow is above the top of the headboard. Burt walks in and sits on the bed causing the pillow to drop below the top of the headboard, but when the camera cuts to behind Milly the corner of the pillow is again above the top of the headboard. Autumn Leaves (1956)

Continuity mistake: During Virginia's visit, when Milly walks over to a chair we see on the coffee table a couple of magazines with an ashtray on top. The top magazine is white on the end closest to Milly and the spine is facing the camera. As soon as Milly sits down the camera cuts and the top magazine now is dark on the end closest to Milly and the spine is facing away from the camera. (It appears the top magazine was rotated 180° between shots.) After Virginia has handed the envelope to Milly, the camera cuts away and the top magazine has returned to its original position (white end closest to Milly and spine facing camera). (00:50:00)

Born to Kill (1947)

Continuity mistake: Georgia takes off her mink coat and tosses it on a chair. As she walks away we see another coat draped over the back of the chair but this coat was not there a second ago. Helen walks over, adjusts the mink coat and sits on the arm of the chair (with the mink coat under her). During the remainder of the scene the positions of the two coats keep changing. As Sam walks out of the room we see a throw pillow that has suddenly appeared between the mink coat and the back of the chair. (00:45:30)

Born to Kill (1947)

Continuity mistake: Mrs. Kraft is playing cards with the bellboy, resting her feet on the shelf under the table. She drops her cards on the floor, and when she gets down on the floor to pick up the cards a large cushion has appeared on the shelf where only a moment ago her feet were resting. (01:00:00)

Factual error: Steve Judd makes a ten cent bet with Gil Westrum and plops down his dime. When we see the dime we see the worn reverse of a Mercury Dime. Mercury Dimes were not released until October 1916. This movie is set in the early years of the 20th Century, many years before Mercury Dimes were placed in circulation. (00:06:55)

Mystery Road (2013)

Factual error: Pete Bailey states he uses a Remington 700 rifle to shoot "roos" (kangaroos). The climactic shootout begins when Jay Swan spots Bailey's truck far across the valley. We see a small puff of smoke just before a shot rings out. Two seconds later Swan is struck by the bullet fired by Bailey. Throughout the gunfight the sound of a shot is heard before the bullet arrives. This also happens during the long-range gunfight between Johnno and Bailey. Bullets fired by a high-power rifle (like the Remington 700) are supersonic so the bullet would arrive before you could hear the shot. (01:47:20)

Mystery Road (2013)

Other mistake: During the climactic gunfight Jay Swan retreats to his car. Using his binoculars Swan looks to the left and slightly rear of his car to see Pete Bailey (who is shooting at him with a high-power rifle). Bailey fires a shot at the car and the bullet strikes the front windshield (an impossibility from that angle). (01:48:00)

Continuity mistake: In the motel lobby scene Katz is holding the sports section of a newspaper in his left hand when the old mute woman takes hold of his right hand. In the close-up shots of their hands the newspaper is now lying on the counter under their hands. Gunsmoke (1955)

Custer - S2-E3

Factual error: In the opening scene Marshal Dillon walks in Boot Hill cemetery. Dates on grave markers include 1883 and 1882. At the end of the episode Marshal Dillon and Chester discuss an Army deserter who had just been acquitted of a murder that Marshal Dillon was sure he had committed. The army deserter is being sent back to his unit to fight the Sioux and Cheyenne Indians under Gen. Custer. The viewer knows the army deserter will soon die in the Battle of Little Big Horn on June 25, 1876 - seven years before the date on one of the grave markers. (00:00:25 - 00:24:30)

True Grit (2010)

Character mistake: Mattie attended a travelling Old West show in Memphis in which Rooster Cogburn was a performer. The flyer for the show shows the date of the show as July 18, 1903. The day of the show Mattie was told that Rooster died three days earlier (July 15, 1903). But Rooster's tombstone lists the date of his death as August 12, 1903. (01:41:55 - 01:43:35)
