Morbius (2022)

Stupidity: Despite being wanted for murder, escaping jail, and having his face plastered on the front page of the newspaper, Morbius meets Martine in a public diner and doesn't even make an attempt to conceal his identity while they are seated. Even shaving off his beard and cutting his hair short would have gone a long way in making him more unrecognizable.

X-Men: Evolution (2000)

Adrift - S2-E6

Stupidity: Storm has the ability to control the weather, but when she is helping Jean and Xavier search for Alex and Scott while they are lost at sea, she doesn't think to stop or even diminish the heavy rainstorm that is going on, which would greatly increase their chances of locating them.

Growing Pains - S2-E1

Stupidity: When the new principal is addressing the student body, Avalanche tries to impress Kitty by causing a couple of small earthquakes, one of which causes the scoreboard to crash to the floor below. The principal laughs off the incident and continues to address everyone instead of either evacuating the area or having everyone take cover.

Space Jam (1996)

Stupidity: This film portrays Michael Jordan and his family living in a relatively modest house in the suburbs. Jordan was one of the most famous people on the entire planet around the time the film takes place. Living in such an area would lead to a never-ending onslaught of overzealous fans, paparazzi, and even detractors.

Better Call Saul (2015)

Show generally

Stupidity: Despite being a high-profile fugitive who was a local celebrity in his previous life, Saul does very little to alter his physical appearance, settling on just a mustache and glasses. Growing a beard, wearing a hairpiece, and altering his speaking voice around others would have gone a long way in preventing him from being made.

Game of Thrones (2011)

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - S8-E2

Stupidity: It is decided that those who cannot fight will hide in the crypt from the army of the dead, and Jon Snow suggests during the war council to put Bran in the crypt as well, "where it's safest." Jon knows full well that the Night King can resurrect the dead and add them to his army. Not only should he not suggest to hide Bran there, he should be telling everyone not to go anywhere near the crypt.

Game of Thrones (2011)

The Red Woman - S6-E1

Stupidity: When Trystane is engaging Nymeria in combat, he pivots right in front of Obara, whom he knows is armed with a spear, and leaves his entire backside exposed. Anyone with a modicum of sword training would know not to expose themselves to an armed opponent like that. He ends up immediately being speared through the back of the head because of it.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: They ask him who he chooses to fight. He chooses Nymeria, believing the others will not interfere. He was wrong.

lionhead

Two women snuck aboard his ship intending to murder him, and he trusted them to be honest about fighting fair? That just adds to the stupidity.

Phaneron

That's naivety at best, not stupidity. Plus they didn't sneak on board, they announced their intentions.

lionhead

If two armed people entered your house and told you they were going to murder you, but would give you the opportunity to fight your way out, would you actually believe them as well as immediately turn your back to one of them? Trystane is a prince who undoubtedly had education and combat training. This goes beyond naivety.

Phaneron

You are forgetting he is also only 15 or 16 years old and never left Dorne (what I take from the show). What does he really know? He probably never actually fought anyone in his life.

lionhead

The women that killed him were previously locked in a cell for trying to kidnap his betrothed, which he knew about. He also knew she died on the journey back to King's Landing under suspicious circumstances, and likely knew it was from poisoning and that they were involved. Based on the show's lore, someone in his position would have had schooling about the world and its people from a maester and combat training from a master-at-arms. He knew full well not to trust these women.

Dexter (2006)

Season 8 generally

Stupidity: Hannah spends the entirety of season 8 as a fugitive in hiding, but never thinks to make herself less conspicuous, such as dyeing or cutting her hair, or wearing disguises when she goes out in public.

X-Men (1992)

The Unstoppable Juggernaut - S1-E8

Stupidity: When the X-Men are battling Juggernaut, at one point Storm uses a powerful wind to pull a building out of its foundation and drops it on top of him, destroying the building in the process. She had no way of knowing whether anyone was in the building. She could have killed dozens of innocent people for all she knows. (00:16:25)

Dexter (2006)

Monkey in a Box - S8-E11

Stupidity: Dexter's decision not to kill Trinity when he had the chance eventually led to Rita's death, a mistake Dexter told Deb he would never make again. However, at the end of this episode, he decides to spare Oliver Saxon so Deb can arrest him. Dexter doesn't stay to ensure that Deb successfully has Saxon in custody, which leads to Saxon escaping his shackles with the unwitting help of Deputy Marshal Clayton, and shooting Deb before leaving the scene. Dexter therefore does make the same mistake again.

Dexter (2006)

Goodbye Miami - S8-E10

Stupidity: After Dexter tells Hannah that the U.S. Marshals have distributed her picture everywhere, she questions how she will be able to flee Miami for Argentina. Dexter reasons he and Harrison can leave with her because the authorities won't be looking for a woman traveling with her "husband and child." It doesn't matter who she is or isn't traveling with. If the authorities have shared her picture, she's going to be flagged when she goes through security at the airport, which Dexter should certainly know. This is made all the more egregious when she takes Harrison to the hospital later in the episode and is ID'd by the receptionist.

Dexter (2006)

Show generally

Stupidity: Dexter keeps evidence of his murders in his apartment, but never thinks to have any kind of security system such as motion detectors and cameras. This is especially egregious given that 1. The first rule of Dexter's code is to not get caught. 2. Sgt. Doakes broke into Dexter's apartment and found his blood slides, and very nearly used them to prove that Dexter is a serial killer, and 3. Dexter discovered that Stan Liddy bugged his apartment.

Stupidity: There's no reason for the Foot Clan to confront the Turtles at TGRI and show them that they are in possession of the last canister of ooze. They already have what they came for and nearly lost it by battling the Turtles. Even if they wanted to kill two birds with one stone and see if they could defeat the Turtles while they were there, they still could have sent one of the soldiers back to headquarters with the ooze before revealing themselves and not risk losing it in the fight.

Stay Out Of The Basement (2) - S1-E13

Stupidity: When the real Dr. Brewer is found in the basement, he has duct tape over his mouth and needs his daughter to remove it for him. His hands are tied around the wrist, but not behind his back, so he could have easily removed the tape from his mouth himself long before he was found.

'Til Death Do Us Part: Part 1 - S2-E1

Stupidity: When Morph, disguised as Storm, tricks Jubilee into going to the Friends of Humanity's headquarters, he changes back to his regular form and says that's what she gets for thinking she could take his place before she even exits the room. It's amazing she didn't hear him and turn around to see his deception. (00:15:55)

Behold, a Distant Star - S2-E10

Stupidity: When Johnny finds out his father is alive and wanted for murder, he is livid with his sister for telling him neither fact. When Sue decides to tell him the whole story, she asks Reed to pull a photo album from the drawer next to him, which contains a newspaper clipping detailing that their father was wanted for murder. If Sue didn't want Johnny to know about that, she shouldn't have placed the clipping in a photo album, and then kept the photo album in a communal area where Johnny could have easily discovered it at any time. Slave Island - S1-E7

Stupidity: At the beginning of the episode, Pyro is among the Genoshan prisoners, and he is wearing his flamethrower device. While his inhibitor collar will suppress his mutant power of pyrokinesis, he can still use the flamethrower itself as a weapon. This would be akin to a prison allowing an inmate to walk around with a loaded gun. (00:02:12)

X-Men (1992)

Slave Island - S1-E7

Stupidity: The mutants that are held prisoner and forced to build the dam on Genosha are allowed to keep their costumes on. The prisoners are captured so that their powers can be used to build the dam faster, but there's no reason why they wouldn't all be given prison uniforms. Characters like Gambit and Jubilee are wearing jackets, and Jubilee uses it to her advantage by pocketing a piece of twine to pick the lock to her cell later on.

Slave Island - S1-E7

Stupidity: Just before Gambit rescues Jubilee and Storm from their solitary lockboxes, Jubilee is complaining about the temperature inside hers, comparing it to a sauna. She somehow didn't think to remove her jacket to help cool off a little. (00:13:24)
