At First Sight

Factual error: When the doctors are operating on Virgil's eyes, you see his right eye closed as if he were sleeping normally. If they hadn't already operated on it, it would have been taped shut. If they had operated on it, it would have been covered with gauze which would be taped on his face.

Continuity mistake: In the scene when Mira Sorvino kisses Steven Weber during a dance, her hair color and make up look different before and after the shot of the actual kiss. (00:54:10)

Character mistake: When Amy goes to Virgil's house to apologize, Virgil tells Amy that the tree is exactly 14 steps away. However he then leads her there by taking 17 steps.

Trivia: The film is based on a true story. The man who is played by Val Kilmer was a married man, in his early fifties, when he regained his sight, and he is gradually losing it again.

Virgil: I saw the horizon. It's out there. And though I may not ever be able to touch it, it's worth reaching for.

Phil Webster: Limbo is like New Jersey. You can see all the good stuff, you just have to get there.

Virgil: Who are we kidding? I'm blind. I can't see see. I don't belong here. I'm not meant to see.
Amy Benic: You're darn right you're blind. I'm standing right here for you and you don't even look.
