Continuity mistake: When Ishmael is in bed watching Queequeg looking around his room, his head rotates between shots.
Moby Dick (1956)
Directed by: John Huston
Starring: Gregory Peck, Leo Genn, Richard Basehart, James Robertson Justice
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie when the crew are in the boats going after Moby Dick, the sky changes throughout the entire scene. At moments it is sunny, then cloudy, then overcast.
Continuity mistake: During the first "Nantucket Sleigh Ride" with the very first whale harpooned, one of the three ships attached to the whale must cut their rope to save a man who falls overboard. In the following shot, there should only be two taught ropes attached to the whale, but there are still the original three.
Trivia: During the filming at sea, Gregory Peck (Captain Ahab) nearly drowned several times during the whale-hunting scenes in which he had to participate. As a result, by the time the movie was finished, he and director John Huston were no longer on speaking terms.
Trivia: Orson Welles wrote his own scenes.
Captain Ahab: Birds... the birds... He rises.
Captain Ahab: By heavens man, we are turned round and round in this world, like yonder windlass, and fate is the handspike.
Captain Ahab: I'll follow him around the Horn, and around the Norway maelstrom, and around perdition's flames before I give him up.
