Continuity mistake: When the movie begins, the chief holds the pipe of peace with his hands extended upwards. A shot later, they're pointing forward.
Trivia: The radio play scene at the end of the film was shot at Martin Scorsese's alma mater, Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, NY, after principal photography had wrapped in Oklahoma.
Trivia: Musician Jack White, of the White Stripes, has a cameo as one of the actors in the radio stage play at the end of the film. Another well-known musician, Pete Yorn, has a notable role as Acie Kirby.
