Trivia: In the scene after Hiccup finally gets Toothless' new tail fin to work, and the two are relaxing after they fly through the fire ball, the two are greeted by a group of tiny dragons. This little dragon was actually what Toothless was originally going to be, as he was in the book, until they changed him to a dragon big enough for Hiccup to ride to suit the movie. (00:46:15)

Trivia: If you look closely at Toothless, you can see he has scars from the "mangler" Hiccup uses to shoot him down. They are located on his throat, left foot, and wing.

Trivia: If you watch closely at the beginning of the movie, when the DreamWorks logo appears on screen, you can see Toothless flying around in the stars behind the moon. (00:00:20)

Trivia: When Ruffnut and Tuffnut are insulting the giant dragon, one of the twins calls it the Bride of Grendel. This is a reference to the old Viking legend of Beowulf. (01:16:45)

Trivia: Before Toothless brings Hiccup and Astrid to the dragon's nest, we get several shots of other dragons. Pay attention to one shot of a Monstrous Nightmare; it can be seen holding Gloria, the hippo from Madagascar. (Confirmed on the DVD's commentary.). (00:56:50)

Trivia: Hiccup is the only character to call Toothless by his name.

Mistakes

Continuity mistake: When Hiccup first finds Toothless, there is a dramatic shot where the camera pans over Toothless, and his wing briefly obscures his eye, which is open after the wing passes. But look at the tip of the wing. During the shot there is a stretch of rope wrapped around it. In the next shot, the rope is much higher up the wing and not wrapped around it anymore. (00:13:15)

Question: Does anyone know how to access the easter egg on the DVD? There is a sign in the lower left corner that says "Keep Out" but I haven't figured out how to access it. Thanks for any help.

Chosen answer: On the selection bar at the top, move the highlight all the way to the left so that "Play" is highlighted. Press the down arrow. "Keep Out" is now highlighted. Press the Enter or Select key (or whatever it's called on your remote).
