Around the World in 80 Days

Continuity mistake: Near the end of the movie, when Fogg and party are on the Henrietta, there is a scene at the Reform Club. On each side of the big map, there is a chalkboard with wagers and current odds. When the scene opens, the chalkboard on the left is visible, and the odds are 10 to 1. The camera angle changes to show the chalkboard on the right, and the odds are now 8 to 1.

Suggested correction: At no time in the scenes in question do we see a big map or a chalkboard with the odds at the Reform Club. There is a chalkboard with the odds at Lloyd's but in the only scene there at this point in the movie, the odds are blank. Like many other mistakes on this page, you are probably referring to a different version, not the 1956 movie.

Continuity mistake: When Passpartout meets a man carrying a sandwich board saying SATURDAY RESULTS, he concludes that it is Saturday without looking at either side of the sign.

Other mistake: When they are in San Francisco, notice the pianist. The keys he presses don't correspond with the notes he's supposedly playing. It's a little bit obvious that the music was recorded in advance.

Sir Francis Gromarty: One thousand pounds for an elephant? It's outrageous! You've been diddled.
Phileas Fogg: Undoubtedly. But it's not often one needs an elephant in a hurry.

Trivia: There was no balloon in Jules Verne's book. Thank to this film, most people now can't imagine "Around the World in 80 Days" without the balloon. (Gas balloon, not a hot air balloon as most people think).
