Character mistake: After Maverick gives the "actors" their hundred dollars, he says "News travels fast in the Old West." Why would he refer to the west as "old" when, for him, it's the present? This is an expression that didn't come about till later on, when the west BECAME old.
Suggested correction: This was a joke, since it's a comedy movie.
Continuity mistake: During the first scene when Maverick is being hung - the Spaniard drops the bag of snakes - in the next long shot there is a hat on the ground at the hoofs of the Spaniard's horse which mysteriously disappears in the next camera shot. (00:02:05)
Maverick: Well, now, I bring all sorts of plusses to the table. I hardly ever bluff and I never ever cheat.
Trivia: This also goes for the scene with the bank robber, Danny Glover. When he comes out and is getting on his horse he says "I'm getting to old for this S---." This was his main saying in the Lethal Weapon series. (00:26:55)
