Character mistake: After Maverick gives the "actors" their hundred dollars, he says "News travels fast in the Old West." Why would he refer to the west as "old" when, for him, it's the present? This is an expression that didn't come about till later on, when the west BECAME old.
Suggested correction: This was a joke, since it's a comedy movie.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where the Spaniard is beating up all the guys that Maverick paid off he ties one guy's neck to a post with his whip. As the shot changes you see the whip go only around his neck, but in the last shot of the scene it's around neck and post again. (00:36:00)
Maverick: Lord... whatever I've done to piss you off... if you could just get me out of this and somehow let me know what it was I promise to rectify the situation.
Trivia: In accordance with the other trivia entries about Mel Gibson and Danny Glover; if you listen when Gibson takes down Glover's bandana you will hear the exact music that you hear in the Lethal Weapon movies.
