Rannulph Junuh: Is there something you want to tell me?
Adel Invergordon: Well, I'm trying to think of how to say it, Junuh. There is a purpose to this visit... and that's to apologize. But I'm not a naturally apologetic woman, so it takes me a little longer to get my thoughts in order.
Rannulph Junuh: What were you doing out there? I could have killed you.
Bagger Vance: Nah, actually, I positioned myself right in front of you, 'cause from the way your swings were goin', I figured that was the safest place.
Rannulph Junuh: You a caddy?
Bagger Vance: Uh, that depends. You a golfer?
Bagger Vance: I hear you lost your swing. I guess we got to go find it.
Answer: There are many reasons that known actors appear in movies and are uncredited. Cameo appearances often go un-credited. Actors sometimes do a cameo if they are friends with the director or the other stars. It can add an unexpected surprise for the audience. There are also contract and payment issues if an actor receives billing in the credit. Jack Lemmon, who was the narrator for the story, may have preferred not being credited. He was certainly a big enough star that if he wanted to be listed in the credits, he would have received proper billing.
