Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Nedry gets lost at night, he crashes into a mud bank on the front end of his Jeep. When we get a shot of Nedry getting out of the car, he looks to see what stopped him. The obstacle has changed to a log caught on the back tyres. No more mud bank. (01:08:05)

Jurassic Park mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Nedry is trying to escape, and his jeep gets stuck on the mud bank, the camera shows the road below him, and there's an arrow pointing straight ahead. A bit later, the camera shows it again, and the arrow's now pointing left. (01:08:20)

Continuity mistake: Just after Alan gets Lex out the pushed over truck, the T-Rex walks up to them and it is standing about an inch away from them, but in the next shot, there is no sign of it, then reappears in the next shot. (01:08:25)

Jurassic Park mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Dennis tries to get the dinosaur to fetch a stick, at first the stick is perfectly straight. Then they show a shot of Dennis from the front, and all of a sudden the stick is crooked. (01:10:05)

Visible crew/equipment: When Nedry is getting eaten by the spitter dinosaur, if you look down at the bottom of the Jeep, you can see the lights reflecting off of the camera lens. (01:10:35)

Jurassic Park mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When Nedry is attacked by the Dilophosaurus, (the spitting dinosaur), the first spit supposedly lands on his shirt, BUT if you look closely, Nedry slaps it there himself with his hand - there's only a little bit on his shirt before he hits himself, then there's loads. (01:10:40)

Revealing mistake: When the Dilophosaurus spits at Nedry, you can see the smoke from the gun used to shoot the spit in his face, top left of screen. (01:10:50)

Factual error: The way the car "slides" down the tree as Grant and Tim are climbing down is very unrealistic. Rather than hugging the trunk like it does, the branches (some of which are thick enough) would deflect it away from the trunk. (01:13:30 - 01:15:00)

Continuity mistake: We see Dr. Grant helping Tim out of the car that has just fallen into the tree, then suddenly, they are about 5 feet under the car though the dialogue and split second cut suggest that they had merely just gotten out of the car and had not yet began their descent. (01:13:40)

Continuity mistake: Take note when the vehicle starts chasing Sam Neill and the kid down the tree. When it first starts to fall, it smashes a headlight and damages a foglight. In the next shot both lights are undamaged and operational. (01:14:20)

Revealing mistake: When Alan and Tim climb down the tree to escape from the falling car, you can see cables along the bark of the tree below the car as it falls. (01:14:20)

Jurassic Park mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Jeff Goldblum is sitting in the back of the car by himself and notices that a T-Rex is coming towards him. The wide shot of him shows that the car he is in is near one of the cars for the tour. But when the T-Rex comes and they drive off, the car has been moved to an alternate route for the escape, and they are nowhere near the area they should be. (01:16:50)

Sheryl Ross

Continuity mistake: When the car first falls down the tree, you can see the adjustable headlight on the right tilts forward. In the next shot when the car hits the branch just before it hits Dr Grant, it does the same thing again. However in the next shot, the headlight is once again facing forwards. (01:17:10)

Christaffa

Deliberate mistake: In the scene where the T-Rex is chasing the Explorer, there is a shot of the driver's side side view mirror which says, "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear." This warning is only used on convex mirrors, which are only placed on the passenger side of cars. (01:17:40)

Continuity mistake: Ellie, Muldoon & Dr. Malcolm are accelerating away from the T-Rex after having found the other Explorer. Just after Muldoon shouts "Bloody move!" and is looking at the gear stick, the shot changes and he is suddenly looking over his shoulder. (01:17:45)

Oliver Hunter

Jurassic Park mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Tim, Lex and Dr. Grant are hiding in a large tree, a large dinosaur appears. They pull some branches off the tree and feed the dinosaur. However, when they first climb the tree, there is no foliage in the area at all. (01:19:20)

Jurassic Park mistake picture

Other mistake: When Grant and the children are up in the tree, as Tim is telling his jokes the camera pans out and we get a wider view. In this shot you can see that Grant's boots are spotlessly clean, which is highly unlikely given the muddy ground, wet environment and his activities over the past few hours. (01:20:35)

Continuity mistake: When the dinosaur comes up to Allen and the kids in the tree, we see various footage of the dinosaur's head, but in those shots there is a much larger amount of foliage around and on the tree than there was before. (01:24:55)

Sheryl Ross

Revealing mistake: When Grant tells Lex and Tim about the breeding he then gestures to the dinosaurs' footprints. Some of the footprints are very square in shape and have obviously been stamped in the ground. (01:27:35)

Jurassic Park mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Sam Neill found the eggshells beside the root of the tree, they are on the dark soil. In the other shot, the same eggshells are on the clear sand. (01:27:40)

Question: Was there any truth to Hammond's comment that none of the rides at Disneyland worked when the park first opened? I just find that a little hard to believe.

Gavin Jackson

Chosen answer: Yes. The first opening day of Disneyland in California was catastrophic. The pavement was fresh and the sun was so hot high-heeled shoes actually sunk into the walkways. Counterfeit tickets were made, resulting in more people than the park had room for. They ran out of food and drinks. Bathrooms clogged and shut down. Many of the rides broke down on opening day. The Storybook Land Canal Boats had to be pulled by cast members in rubber boots. At the time, there were no guide rails for Autopia; some of the cars crashed into each other, making them inoperable. A gas leak in Fantasyland lead to the land being temporarily closed for part of the day.
