Jingle All the Way

Revealing mistake: Certain parts of this film were made during the spring months, not winter. In the background of the high up shots during the parade, leaves can be seen on trees (in the distance). Also, the grass is surprisingly very green, in several locations.

Revealing mistake: Before Howard rises from the float as Turbo Man, we see several shots of the band marching down the street. In two shots you can briefly see Howard (as Turbo Man) in the background on the float. This is before he is shown coming out. (01:03:40)

Revealing mistake: The parade is supposed to take place around Christmas, but in some scenes looking down from above, we see very short shadows under the floats and people (indicating filmed during summer). At Christmas, shadows are long all day especially in Minneapolis.

Revealing mistake: When Howard arrives at the Mall of America he comes down an escalator. We then see a shot of the gathering crowd in front of him. In this shot you can see Howard with a woman in light blue with her hand on his left shoulder as he pushes his way through the crowd. This is before he joins the crowd. (00:26:10)

Factual error: We see Jamie at his karate graduation as a yellow belt. In the scene where his dad apologizes for missing it, he picks up Jamie's new belt, which is purple. Although the order of belt ranks varies by discipline and by dojo, it is highly unlikely that any sensei would have yellow belt (which is almost always the second level) followed by purple (sometimes as low as the fourth ranking, but more often up to the seventh or eighth rank).

Trivia: The parade scenes were filmed on the Universal Studios backlot in "Courthouse Square." The film's special effects artists then digitally composited in some elements of a street in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, where the film is set. The sequence took three weeks to shoot and involved hundreds of extras.
