Ben Chase is a prosecuter turned laywer, defending his childlike client Martin Thiel of murder, only to learn after the trial is ended that this particular defender, was guilty all along. As he prepares to try and aid the courts in put Martin inside for good, he learns that Martin is not so much a cold-blooded sociopath, but a disturbed young man, twisted by a tragic upbringing, which has made him see death of newborns all his life
