Continuity mistake: During the opening credits, Kate leaves the Lake House via the kitchen, where we see the indoor tree is branches only-no leaves. Then from her car she looks back to the house, where we now see that tree is covered in orange leaves.

Alex: He could build a house. But he couldn't build a home.
Trivia: 1620 Racine is the same block as in the movie The Untouchables. The address where Sean Connery is killed is 1634 N Racine.
Question: Why would Alex put a letter in that mailbox? Did he know this lady was going to show up?
