Grosse Pointe Blank

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Blank gives Debi an aeroplane ride on his feet, he takes off his cap to lie on the bed. When he gets up to leave the cap appears in his hand without his ever retrieving it from the bedpost where he hung it.

Continuity mistake: At the high school reunion dance, Tracy hands Martin her baby son. When she starts to hand him over, the baby is facing her, but in the next shot, when Martin reaches out to take it off her, the baby has turned round and is now magically facing HIM.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Blank goes into the DJ booth to talk to his high school girlfriend, every time the camera goes back and forth to her, her necklace is twisted and then untwisted.

Continuity mistake: Blank and Debi are in a club. All of a sudden there is a martini glass (neither of them are drinking martinis) Just when you have enough time to notice the extra glass one of Debi's drunk friends comes clambering over with a martini in hand. But then there is only one on the table when the camera pulls back.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Martin first meets Debi (in the DJ booth) Martin switches chairs when Debi's up fiddling with the blinds. Look at the shelf with all the CD's in behind Martin - the top left rack usually has 5 or 6 CD's in towards the top, but sometimes it changes.

Continuity mistake: When the Ultimart store is blown up you see the store on fire without the Ultimart sign. When they go back to the store the Ultimart sign is shown falling off. The two scenes are the wrong way round.

Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie during the big shootout, we see Martin and Grocer shoot the two cops as they come through the doors. When they stop shooting we can see that Grocer is out of ammo (the sliders on his guns are back) and Martin is out of ammo only on the gun in his left hand (our right) as the slider on the right hand gun is still forward. Yet when he turns to face Grocer, both guns are empty and the sliders are back.

Continuity mistake: When Debi, her dad, and Martin are running up the stairs, a gunman shoots at them, hitting the wall and the large window several times. In subsequent shots, the bullet holes in the wall are still there, but the window is perfect.

Continuity mistake: The first time Martin goes into the Ultimart, you can see the video store through some kind of glass door, or open doorway next to the counter. The next time he goes to the Ultimart, there is only a brick wall next to the counter.

Continuity mistake: When Martin and the Ultimart clerk go flying after the explosion, the clerk's hat alternates from staying on in the first two cuts, to having fallen off and the clerk needing to put it back on in the third cut.

Continuity mistake: When Martin goes to see his mother in the home, in one shot he has his hand on her elbow. The shot cuts and his arms are crossed.

Continuity mistake: During the reunion when Martin and his friend are carrying the hitman down the stairs, the stairs are wide with a railing up the middle. The first shot of them, from the top of the stairs going down, shows them both going to the right of the railing. In the very next shot, from the bottom of the stairs showing them coming down, they are on opposite sides of the railing. (01:26:30)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where John Cusack and Dan Ackroyd meet each other in a diner, there are some pills on the table. The pills keep moving around the table for every cut.

Continuity mistake: This mistake takes place at the beginning of the film, after Martin has shot the hitman on the bicycle. When Dan Aykroyd appears and kills the men in front of what appears to be a hotel (the intended victims of the man on the bike), he unleashes a barrage of gunfire from 2 revolvers. It's difficult to count the exact number of gunshots, but it is at least twice as much as the capacity of two revolvers (even if each weapon holds 8 rounds, which most don't). A typical Hollywood mistake, where reloading isn't needed. (00:03:05)

Continuity mistake: When Martin is in Miami, he has to rush down the stairs and kick in the door (after his attempt at poisoning goes wrong). After he kicks the door open and fires one shot, (knocking the guy back on to the bed), as he proceeds to close the door and walk towards the bed it is clear that the slide is locked back on his suppressed Glock, either from a feeding malfunction or an empty magazine. After the angle to the man lying on the bed and then back to Martin, the slide on his weapon is once again in the forward position, and without any indication that he had either reloaded (unlikely since he had only fired one shot and a Glock 17 with a high capacity magazine will hold 17 rounds, plus one in the chamber) or corrected the "jam" and released the slide (it could have been done in the short amount of time given, but would have been audible). (00:09:10)

Continuity mistake: In the scene in the bar, three glasses arrive - he pushes one over to Minnie Driver so she has two and he has one. But keep an eye on them, because occasionally two are on his side.

Continuity mistake: One contributor grew up in Grosse Pointe and couldn't help noticing that their shopping district looks nothing like the one in the movie, there is no Grosse Pointe High school (at least not since around 1970) and there is no GP radio station. In fact, the only scenes that are actually Grosse Pointe are during the opening credits.

Continuity mistake: When Martin is at the Hippo Club and goes to the bathroom, he washes his hands and throws the paper on the floor. You see the paper on the floor as he leaves in a wide shot. In the last part of the scene there is another wide shot and the paper is gone.

Continuity mistake: At the high school reunion dance, Tracy hands Martin her baby son. When she starts to hand him over, the baby is facing her, but in the next shot, when Martin reaches out to take it off her, the baby has turned round and is now magically facing HIM.

Debi: So, is there a Mrs. Mysterio?
Martin Blank: No, but I do have a very nice cat?
Debi: Not the same.
Martin Blank: Well, you don't know my cat, it's very demanding.
Debi: It? You don't know if it's a boy or girl?
Martin Blank: I respect its privacy.

Trivia: The "goon" who winds up fighting John Cusack in the school hallway is Benny "The Jet" Urquidez. He is not only a world-class kickboxer but has also been John Cusack's real-life kickboxing coach for many years.

Question: Grocer contacts the G-men to tell them that Blank is arriving by plane. Is that his own car he is driving around town, or are we to assume that he rented a car exactly like his own? If it is his car, how did it get there if he flew?

Answer: Given that Blank and Grocer both drive identical black Lincoln Town Cars throughout the film for some reason, that would be a reasonable assumption that they would also hire the same car model wherever they go.
