Other mistake: In the 'Macavity' dance, Demeter makes a mistake with one of her moves and makes an "Oops." face.

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the song "Old Deuteronomy" watch the positions of Jo Gibb and Drew Varley flip flop in the background between long and close shots. Soon afterward, Cassandra slides down to the stage in a closeup and immediately slides down again in the long shot (while singing different lyrics). Apparently the long and close shots were often filmed in different takes and the choreography and positioning of actors were sometimes not matched very well.

Continuity mistake: In the Macavity song with Demeter and Bombalurina, Demeter's left legging changes from being pulled up or down by her ankle between shots.

Old Deuteronomy: With cats, some say one rule is true: don't speak 'til you are spoken to. Myself, I do not hold with that. I say you should address a cat, but always keep in mind that he resents familiarity. You bow, and taking off your hat, address him in this form: O, Cat.

Trivia: There is supposed to be another song after "Gus the Theater Cat" called "Growltiger's Last Stand" but Sir John Mills was too old to do all the dancing required so they didn't film that scene.

Question: What is the story behind Grizabella? Why do the other cats seem to hate her and shun her?

Answer: It's a bit vague, but when Grizabella was young, she left the other Jellicle cats, turning her back on them to live another life, thinking she was more glamorous than the others. Now that she is older and has fallen on hard times, she returns, wanting to rejoin the tribe. The other cats are resentful that she considered herself better than them, and they are put off by her shabby appearance, so do not want her back.
