The Terminal

Trivia: When Amelia does her makeup at the table while sitting with Viktor, she pulls out an Elizabeth Arden compact. Catherine Zeta-Jones, who played Amelia, is currently a spokeswoman for Elizabeth Arden cosmetics.

Trivia: The passport of "Viktor" is actually a modified one of The Republic of Belarus. It has the same color, back page, and the coat of arms on the front page is the same as of a true passport, with the exception that our Belarussian coat of arms does not have a star on it. (00:04:30)

Trivia: The girl with the suitcase that Viktor tries to help is Steven Spielberg's daughter Sasha.

Trivia: Steven Spielberg cut a line from the film where Hanks's character is getting help using a phone card and says, "Home phone, home phone!". Spielberg cut this because he didn't want comparisons to E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) and the famous lines "Phone home."

Trivia: When Viktor is about to be forced onto the plane back home, Dixon pulls up a chair with a cup of coffee in his hand, watches the security camera screens, and whistles the melody to "For All We Know (We May Never Meet Again)".

Trivia: Based on a true story of Iranian refugee Merhan Nasseri who still lives in an airport in France, having lost his papers, since 1988. (Although officials made leaving available for him after a while, he has chosen to stay there.)

Revealing mistake: About 30 seconds into the movie, when the camera is panning down the flight status board, the letters are flipping through to form the correct words. However, the board is digitally animated, and some of the sequences of letters scrolling (such as one square going from L to M to N) loop without making any sense, like in the line above the yellow "The /Terminal" (U, V, W, U, V, W, U, V, W.).
