Trivia: Wilfrid Brambell has a cameo role as Mr. Pullen in this film. During Brambell's appearance, you can hear the 'Steptoe & Son' theme, the TV series in which he appeared.

Trivia: When Mr Carver takes the candle off the table to read the words that Dr Nookey gave to him, Mrs Moore tells him to "stop messing about." Joan Sims ad-libbed this line. The original line in the script was "get on with it."

Trivia: During the dance sequence at the hospital party, you can see a feather boa getting into Mrs Moore's mouth when she is speaking to Mr Carver. This was purely an accident, but Joan Sims played it off so well that it was kept in the film.

Trivia: When Dr Nookey and the porter are walking through the swamp on their way to meet Gladstone at the medical mission, Nookey says, "Watch it, there's a crocogator." Jim Dale hated this line and wanted it removed from the script, but producer Peter Rogers refused.

Trivia: Although Sid James received top billing, his part is relatively small and he doesn't actually appear until the 38th minute of the movie.

Trivia: When Jim Dale is weaving in and out of the dancers with his hands full of buffet food at the hospital party, an orchestration of "The Magic of Love" from "Carry On Spying" can be heard.

Trivia: Jim Dale's final "Carry On" appearance for 23 years before his return in "Carry On Columbus" (1992).

Trivia: Before shooting the scene where Dr Nookey jumps on the hammock at the Medical Mission, Jim Dale had his arm in a bandage following an accident with the trolley at the hospital. Dale made sure his arm was over his body as he leapt into the hammock in order to avoid any further damage.

Trivia: When the clarinet player says "The next dance will be a general excuse me" at the hospital party, the music the band plays is the theme tune to the film "Carry On Cabby."

Trivia: Jim Dale broke his arm in the scene when he crashed through the restaurant window whilst going down the staircase on a hospital trolley.

Trivia: Shakira Baksh, who has an uncredited role as "Scrubba", later married the actor Michael Caine.

Trivia: Eric Rogers, who provided the music for most of the Carry On films, appears as the clarinet player at the hospital party.

Trivia: Bob Todd, who would later become a long-time regular on The Benny Hill Show, has an uncredited appearance as the patient whose stomach is blown up by the breathing apparatus during the scene where Dr Nookey tampers with the hospital fuse box.

Revealing mistake: Miss Fosdick searches in her filing cabinet, but there are no files visible only the file holders.
