Continuity mistake: When Mr. Kralik is showing Mr. Pirovitch his letter, in the first shot Kralik is holding one page in his right hand and the rest of the pages in his left. The immediate close up shows all the papers in one pile, held by both hands. (00:05:35)
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Matuschek calls Mr. Pirovitch over to the phone, the phone cord is draped over the top of the counter. When Mr. Pirovitch goes to the phone, the cord now runs behind the counter, though it has not been touched.
Continuity mistake: When Miss Novak is in bed and is talking to Mr. Kralik about the letter she has received, the position of her hand holding the letter changes between shots. From one angle she holds the letter right at the top of the page, but from the other angle she holds it about halfway down the page.
Continuity mistake: When Miss Novak and Mr. Kralik are bickering outside the store, talking about Miss Novak's blouse, the newspaper in Mr. Kralik's hand goes from fully opened to folded up into a small bundle between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Kralik is preparing to leave the store and places his notebook, pencils and key on the counter top, the position of these items changes between the close up and the long shot.
Continuity mistake: Outside the store, when Pirovitch runs to open the cab door for Vadas, Pirovitch's cigar moves instantly from being held in his mouth to in his hand.
Continuity mistake: Just as Mr Matuschek storms off after telling Klara that he cannot offer her a job, the clutch bag in Klara's hands changes position instantly between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Kralik and Ms. Novak are carrying boxes out of the stock room after an argument, Mr. Kralik has 5 boxes in his pile. The shot changes and he now has only 4 boxes.
