Corrected entry: During the scene showing a C-47 transport plane flying at night over enemy territory during the Korean War, in the background we hear the song "All Shook Up" to establish a time frame. This song by Elvis Presley was not released until March of 1957, almost four years after the end of the Korean War.

Correction: The song isn't actually being heard by the characters. It is for the audience to hear as part of the soundtrack.

Corrected entry: Towards the end at the hospital, the doctor tells Will what really happened at his birth, as opposed to the big fish and wedding ring story Ed tells at the beginning, and Will acts as though he has never heard the real story before. But Will already knew the real story because he used it to rebuff his father when they were arguing at the wedding about him telling the made up version.

Correction: The doctor probably didn't know that Will knew the truth, so Will was just being polite and pretending the doc's story was new to him.

Xofer

Corrected entry: When the young Edward Bloom meets up with Carl, after taking different roads outside of Ashton and Edward loses his shoes in Spectre, Carl says to him "Frank, what happened to your shoes?"

Correction: Carl asks, "FRIEND, what happened to your shoes?"

JustJudy

Corrected entry: How did Edward afford all those daffodils? He had no money when he started work at the circus, and he worked there for free for a couple of months.

Correction: Perhaps Amos loaned/gave him the money.

Xofer

Corrected entry: In the scene where Edward Bloom is about to parachute out of an airplane on his secret mission, he checks his watch, which is a Hamilton Khaki. This line of watches by Hamilton wasn't introduced until the early 1990s.

Correction: The young girl he meets in Spectre is also shown to be an old woman during his childhood. Chronological idiosyncrasies are a natural part of Ed's embellished stories.

Phixius

Continuity mistake: When the young Edward Bloom is in church and is growing at a quick pace, you see his buttons fly off and hit the woman in front of him in the back of the head. She then turns around and his buttons are back. (00:19:25)

Question: After Ed and Norther rob the bank, Ed explains that he explained about how Texas oil money and poor federal regulation result in many savings and loans losing money. From the clothes and hairstyles, it looks like the 70s. Does anyone know what he is referring to?

Phoenix

Chosen answer: Deregulation of the U. S. savings & loan industry in the early 1980's greatly reduced the restrictions on which federally-chartered S&Ls could invest their money. Since the depositors' money was insured by the federal government, the S&Ls had no incentives to minimize risk. This resulted in a major political scandal by the end of the decade, to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars being lost through questionable investments, with taxpayers picking up the tab. Many of the most egregious violators were based in Sun Belt states, including Texas. The fashions do appear to be a bit out of date, however.
