Deep Blue Sea

Continuity mistake: Towards the end of the movie, the Preacher stabs the shark in its left eye with his cross, causing it to bleed. In the later scene, when shark returns to eat Susan, its eye is intact. (01:28:10 - 01:32:45)

Continuity mistake: Near the end when the survivors has reached the surface and LL Cool J gets attacked by a shark. Notice all the blood in the water. Shortly after, when he is pulled up and rescued, you see no blood at all. (01:28:20)

Plot hole: Considering the size and power of the sharks, why didn't the female just jump the fence at the end of the film. It was only 3 or 4 feet above the water at that point. (01:30:10)

Grumpy Scot

Factual error: Late in the film, Susan is wearing rubber aquatic shoes. She goes to her quarters to retrieve the data and decides to electrocute the shark that attacks her. She takes off her rubber wetsuit and stands on it on the metal table to insulate her from the current so she doesn't get electrocuted herself. But, isn't she already insulated by the rubber on the bottom of her shoes? Was this just a reason to get her to take her clothes off?

Revealing mistake: In the shot when the helicopter is about to crash into the building, take a look at the blade. There is a wire holding the helicopter.

Factual error: Despite the massive size of the sharks, there's no way that the waist high water would be completely covering the shark. Right before attacks, no one sees a shark until the dorsal fin comes up out of the water.

Factual error: There's no way those dynamite sticks could have produced anything like the humungous explosion at the end of the film. In fact, the most they would have done would have been putting a hole in the shark's skin. (Proven on Mythbusters.)

Gavin Jackson

Continuity mistake: The man with the cross has a wound on the left hand side of his head. Later in the movie it has moved down.

Factual error: The explosion at the end of the movie should have killed Carter, he simply couldn't have survived the concussion wave.

Continuity mistake: When the shark rises above water with Jan partially in its mouth, its teeth are in about the level of her waist. As Carter grabs onto Jan, it moves its teeth up to the top of her chest. In the wide shot that follows, though, its teeth are back at her waist, then in the last shot of her being pulled underwater, they are up way higher again, at her chest.

Revealing mistake: In the wet lab, just after the helicopter explodes into the tower, pieces of concrete are falling all around Thomas Jane, as he reaches to pull the blonde out of the water. The pieces of 'concrete' bounce all around like the foam pieces they are, not actual concrete.

Factual error: When the rescue helicopter approaches Aquatica, the pilot gives his call sign as "X-ray Alpha two eighteen." Numbers in aviation are read individually, so the pilot should have said "X-ray Alpha two one eight."

Plot hole: Mako sharks have been known to leap out of the water, sometimes into boats. Therefore, it is quite possible, perhaps even more so, for these specialised Makos to jump.

Continuity mistake: At the end, Carter manages to hold onto the perimeter fence, and the shark goes through. The shark then explodes, and Carter is seen being blown off the fence back the way he came, yet when he surfaces, he's now on the other side of the fence.

GalahadFairlight

Continuity mistake: When the shark jumps out of the water and grabs Russell Franklin, it slams him down with his body face-down in its mouth. A few seconds later, in the underwater shot, his body is suddenly face-up in its mouth.

Revealing mistake: Towards the end of the film after Carter is being dragged along by the shark, and shot by the priest, his wound does not bleed at all.

oswal13

Revealing mistake: When Carter accidentally finds Jim's dead body tangled in cables, Jim's mouth is slightly open. You can see that the body is completely empty inside, a dummy or mannequin.

Other mistake: After Scoggins is eaten by the shark underwater in the wet lab, Carter quickly goes up to get some air with his face in between two pipes. When he submerges again to swim down to the hatch to escape, the water is perfectly clear; after an attack so close the water would be cloudy with blood and bits of human skin and worse.

Character mistake: When a helicopter winch operator tries to get the gurney with injured Jim inside the helicopter, he doesn't have any gloves on. No wonder his hand gets injured when the cable breaks loose.

Continuity mistake: In the part where they are climbing up the ladder and there's fire on the roof, just after the shark attack Preacher comes and pulls them up with knotted clothes, then he pulls it in with them through the door. When they go back the knotted clothes are there again.

Russell Franklin: You think water moves fast? You should see ice. It moves like it has a mind. Like it knows it killed the world once and got a taste for murder. After the avalanche, it took us a week to climb out. Now, I don't know exactly when we turned on each other, but I know that seven of us survived the slide... And only five made it out. Now we took an oath, that I'm breaking now. We said we'd say it was the snow that killed the other two, but it wasn't. Nature is lethal but it doesn't hold a candle to man.

Trivia: In both Jaws and Deep Blue Sea there is a scene involving a license plate. In Jaws it is removed from the belly of the dead tiger shark. In Deep Blue Sea it is removed from the teeth of a tiger shark. Not only are both sharks the same kind but both plates are from Louisiana. The license plate number is the same in both films: 007 o 981 Exp 72-73.

Question: Was there supposed to be some more of the scene between Carter and Susan after she had killed the third shark?

Answer: I assume you are referring to the scene after Susan killed the second shark (she was killed before the third shark was killed). The comments LL makes to finish that scene do seem a little out of place with what they were talking about but the film does have a number of scenes cut out. Most of the deleted scenes on the DVD deal with character development and dialogue but there is no evidence the scene was cut as the DVD's deleted scenes dont have any extra footage on that scene or alternate dialogue.

Lummie

Answer: Yes, Susan and Carter actually share a kiss in the original ending. They grew smitten with one another in unreleased deleted scenes leading up to it. The kiss is interrupted by Sherman "Preacher" Dudley clearing his throat, who's still recovering from his wounds. This, of course, was part of the unreleased original ending that was changed at the last minute due to test audiences wanting Susan to die. The footage was never released but there are stills from said kiss and this was how it was scripted to end. Fans started a petition on the Change site asking Warner to release the original ending and even Thomas Jane is promoting it on his Instagram account. But as of now, the ending has yet to be released.
