Corrected entry: In the scene where Larry Fishburne hooks up Cuba Gooding Jr.'s fade, he never actually cuts any hair, but then demands that Cuba clean up the mess after he is finished.
Corrected entry: At the onset of the movie, during the fishing scene, Furious is talking to Tre about how he was "17 years older than him" and went to Vietnam. We know the beginning of the movie is set in 1984 and that Tre is about 10 years old, making Furious about 27. American involvment in Vietnam ended at the beginning of 1973, where Furious then only would have been about 16 - too young to have been in the armed services in Vietnam.
Correction: This is a really easy math equation. The first part of the movie takes in 1984. The father tells his 10-year-old son that he went to Vietnam when his mother was late in the pregnancy. Subtract 10 years plus incubation time, and this puts us in either late 1973 or early 1974. All U.S. troops were out of Vietnam by March 1973. There is no way his father served in Vietnam. We're not even factoring in the time needed for basic training.
Correction: The minimum age for military service is 17, so all we need is one year and this fits, so unless we know there exact ages this can not be a mistake.
We do know the character's exact ages. The father could not have served in Vietnam. The time-line is off.
Continuity mistake: In the last shoot out scene at the burger stand, the main guy in the crew is shown wearing a jacket when he is eating french fries. When he is running away, his jacket is gone. (01:41:15 - 01:43:30)
Suggested correction: The guy eating the fries has a gray shirt on from the time they arrive at the restaurant 'til he is shot.
Correction: He did cut up one side.
