Plot hole: The scene takes place in Julia Roberts' father's stable. Mel Gibson explains to Julia Roberts that he was supposed to kill her father, a judge, because he was going to reopen a certain case. Gibson says that he couldn't kill him and they became friends. He further explains that he was the one to talk her father into reopening the case in the first place. The problem is, they didn't meet until after he decided to reopen it, since that was why Gibson was supposed to kill him in the first place.

Continuity mistake: When Jerry is captured and strapped in a wheel chair, in his escape attempt he is rolling down a stair and the two footholds of the chair brake. Two seconds later, while the chair keeps rolling, the footholds break for the second time.
Dr. Jonas: Years ago I worked for the CIA on the MK ultra program. Are you familiar with it?
Alice Sutton: It was mind control. "Manchurian Candidate" kind of stuff.
Dr. Jonas: That's a vulgar generalization. But yes, you take an ordinary man an turn him into an assassin. That was our goal.
Question: Shouldn't Dr Jonas and his men have been arrested for what they did? And shouldn't the guys who employed have been arrested too?

Answer: They may have been arrested eventually but it would only happen after a lengthy and involved investigation that would extend beyond the movie's timeline.
