Continuity mistake: When Ernest asks Meenor if she would like to play football, Meenor lines up the football then kicks it through Ernest's window which has a poster on it - the ball forms a hole slightly left of the face in the picture. When Ernest's granddad comes to the window and puts his head in the hole, the hole has now changed to the centre of the face. (00:54:05)

Other mistake: One of the boys says "Nice hat, Mum" but the subtitles read "Night out Mum?" (00:47:20)

Continuity mistake: In the Mosque where Nazir is supposed to get married, after he has run out the camera cuts to Tariq, in this shot he does not have his hat on, but the next time we see him (about 5 seconds later) he has the hat on and takes it off. (00:09:05)

Factual error: As the Khan family enter Bradford, they go over a sleeping policeman. These weren't around in 1971. (00:30:45)

Visible crew/equipment: When the family leave for Bradford, you can see a large crowd of crew reflected in the side of the van window. (00:29:05)

Other mistake: When the cinema owner asks his employee to change movie, he runs into the projector room and tells them to change it, but not which movie to change it to.
