Hudson Hawk

Factual error: When Eddie and Tommy are trying to enter in the security camera room at the beginning of the film, they use real tools but they couldn't unlock a door by using them this way.

Factual error: Leonardo's workshop is shown with a model of one of his flying machine ideas hanging from the ceiling. This is in 1481 but Leonardo did not start his studies into flight until about 1485. (00:01:45)

Factual error: Bruce says his coffee tastes funny and Anna says it was the ethyl chloride in it. Firstly, ethyl chloride isn't soluble and secondly you would need much more than a sip to have any noticable effect, let alone instant unconciousness. (00:58:30)

Factual error: The opening voiceover says that the Duke of Milan commissioned the statue of the horse in 1481. The statue was actually commissioned in 1473 and, due to the size of the statue, Leonardo's planning wasn't complete until 1490. The project was abandoned a few years later.

Factual error: When the bomb that is stuck to Snickers head explodes, the explosion starts behind him and the bomb remains intact until obscured by the smoke. (01:17:25)

Factual error: The film takes place in 1981 (the film very specifically states that it takes place "EXACTLY 500 years" after the prologue set in 1481), meaning that the several references to the Nintendo Entertainment System don't make sense, since they weren't released until a few years later, in the mid-80's. ('83 in Japan under the name "Famicom" and 1985 in North America to be exact).

Factual error: Although there is a lot of uncertainty about the painting, the Mona Lisa was painted sometime between 1505 and 1515. Certainly not as early as 1481. (00:05:00)

Continuity mistake: When Tommy and Darwin Mayflower are in the back of the limo, Darwin dives out and the door slams immediately before Tommy has time to catch it. The shot changes to outside the limo and Darwin is just now jumping from the limo. It is not just the same shot from a different angle because this time the door stays open much longer, long enough for the limo to drive out of the shot. From this angle there would have been more than enough time for Tommy to grab the door.

Trivia: The film was a passion project for Bruce Willis for nearly a decade before production. It was based on a character and concept he came up with, with the help of songwriter Robert Kraft. The concept was originally written to be the basis of a semi-comedic song, but Willis and Kraft loved the character so much, they decided to try and adapt it into a feature film. Willis' success with the "Die Hard" franchise gave him the power to get the film made. However, the passion project quickly turned into a nightmare, with creative clashes between Willis and director Michael Lehmann, extensive re-writes being done on-set, and a generally troubled shoot. It ended up being the only film project Bruce Willis received a writing credit for.
