Minerva tells Hudson to put together the crystals; he does so but leaves out one little piece of crystal. Since the crystal is not properly put together, the gold making machine explodes, killing Darwin and Minerva. Hudson kills the knife-wielding butler and the annoying dog. The whole castle is falling apart and Hudson and Andie MacDowell escape in a Da Vinci glider contraption. After they land safely, she agrees to play Nintendo with Hudson, Tommy is still alive (there were air bags and sprinklers in the car) and Hudson finally drinks a cappuccino.
Continuity mistake: When Tommy and Darwin Mayflower are in the back of the limo, Darwin dives out and the door slams immediately before Tommy has time to catch it. The shot changes to outside the limo and Darwin is just now jumping from the limo. It is not just the same shot from a different angle because this time the door stays open much longer, long enough for the limo to drive out of the shot. From this angle there would have been more than enough time for Tommy to grab the door.Guy
Trivia: At the time this was one of the biggest box-office flops ever, making back less than $9 million from its $65 million budget.
