Continuity mistake: Stack is driving Sammie to Clarksdale to get Delta Slim. During their conversation, in particular when they talk about the twins' father, the natural light keeps changing very noticeably between shots. (00:20:20)

Continuity mistake: When Smoke shoots the thief in the buttocks, the light on the road changes between shots. (00:16:30)

Other mistake: Smoke just arrived in town and parked the truck. He turns to his left, checking behind the truck. But what we see, as it turns out later, is directly to the left of the truck instead. Then he checks ahead, where it should be left of the truck. But the POV we get is again at an incongruous angle; it's what one would see being way to the right of the truck, looking towards it (as you can infer from the sign of the cafe that is exactly the one the truck is parked in front of). (00:13:50)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When the twins hug before splitting up to cover more ground to prepare for the big opening, the position of their bodies during the hug does not match between shots. (00:13:00)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Look, when Sammie hugs his father in church at the beginning of the movie, before the pastor says, "I want you to swear to me," you can see Sammie lower his hand, the remains of the guitar dropping low behind his back. But in the next shot, the guitar is still held high. (00:03:00)

Sammo

Other mistake: At the beginning of the movie, Ruth shouts Sammie's name. The pastor, who is on the left side of the pulpit, tells her, "Ruth, no, no," and only then waves him in, saying, "Come on, son." At the end of the movie, he does not address her, moves his body differently and waves, saying just, "Come, son." (00:02:25 - 01:59:10)

Sammo

Audio problem: When Sammie's mom shouts his name at the very beginning of the movie, her lips don't move. (00:02:25)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Sammie opens the church doors at the beginning of the movie, the elderly woman on the left side of the aisle is looking straight ahead, but in the reverse shot, she is already turned towards him. The same scene is shown again at the end of the movie, and this time you can see what would be an intermediate shot when the lady turns. However, the first time around, there is diegetic music that would require the shots to be consecutive, while the second time around, it's a montage with a rock song. (00:02:20)

Sammo

Deliberate mistake: Michael B. Jordan has a small indentation on his forehead, just above his right eyebrow. By virtue of the fact that he plays twins in this film, both characters have the exact same indentation.

Revealing mistake: While Stack and Smoke are talking with the man about buying the barn, Stack walks behind the man and he blends in with the man talking. It is a layering issue.

Visible crew/equipment: In the church at the beginning, there is a close-up shot of Sammy having flashbacks. A modern green LED light flashes next to the crucifix above the entrance door. (00:02:41)

Suggested correction: I am not sure if I am looking in the right spot, but isn't the single luminous dot in the entrance wall at the timecode posted just one of the many holes in the church that let light bleed in? There are several on the back wall on the right too.

Sammo

Revealing mistake: When Stack and Smoke are waiting for the man to buy the barn, Stack hands Smoke a cigarette. Their hands blend into each other.

Continuity mistake: At the end, during the shooting, there is a guy on the back of the truck that the grenade gets thrown into. When we see the grenade go off, the guy in the back of the truck is gone.

Question: Is it me, or do the actions of the party of vampire hunters not seem to make a lot of sense? I realise that there are five of them and at night vampires are incredibly strong; however, there's a single one inside a little hut away from everything. Leaving the vampire free to do whatever he likes feels like a terrible idea; they could deal with a whole town, leaving him to be with no opposition. They don't even monitor his movements. It's kind of absurd that we just never see a single trace of them anymore.

Sammo

Answer: It was the director's first attempt at writing his own original screenplay. A good attempt, but many subplots were ignored or forgotten. The Native Americans were searching for the creature, possibly helping the trapped people. Using only the white people as vampires, fighting against the African Americans. A stand-off. Good vs evil.
